Title: Straddie island fire ban
Post by: Wello-bob on September 14, 2017, 10:26:20 AM
Heading over to Flinders Beach next week and just noticed that there is now a total fire ban in place. Anyone know if   they would allow a fully enclosed woodfire stove like a Frontier stove with flue, etc.

you might be talking about this 24hr fire ban while this weather front passes.

The Rangers at Flinders will put bans up even when there isn't Government bans on, they do it each Xmas due to the number of visitors coming onto the island I found out after speaking to a Ranger putting fire ban signs up in the camp area. Good chance with the school holidays on next week and the very dry conditions currently, the ban may extend over the entire holiday period.

Thanks Rumpig, I did notice the fire ban during the holiday period.
Another good reason to camp outside school holiday periods

Hopefully it's only til this wind dies down but more likely it could be until we get some good rain......which could be never.
