Title: Electric van mover.
Post by: dvs4x4 on August 16, 2017, 04:06:16 PM
Hi, Im not sure if this is the right place to be asking this, but has anyone had any experience with powered jockey wheels like this?

http://www.klika.com.au/12v-electric-jockey-wheel-for-caravans-and-trailers.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwt8rMBRBOEiwA2F2biK3RcCt4NEL1VkWt6xO764vNj8X1xTcDwc5LRyCHYVqtz-syjJBY7hoCVacQAvD_BwE (http://www.klika.com.au/12v-electric-jockey-wheel-for-caravans-and-trailers.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwt8rMBRBOEiwA2F2biK3RcCt4NEL1VkWt6xO764vNj8X1xTcDwc5LRyCHYVqtz-syjJBY7hoCVacQAvD_BwE)

I have a tight driveway with a slope and the ratchet style jockey wheel is ridiculously slow and frustrating to use. Im looking for a solution that does not cost the earth!

Thanks.

Hi
Is your slope less than the 5 degrees the device will handle?

Cheers

This is a review I did of a similar one. Still performs well within limitations I noted.

dvs4x4...I bought one of those things a year or so back....hate the bastard !!
They are very noisy, have cheap electric connections and recently discovered that the reverse switch on mine doesn't work.
In my case, I have been using a ratchet jockey wheel....but am saving my pennies for one of those purple line van movers.

Thanks for that. Sadly I think my driveway is a bit steeper than 5 degrees, so it might not work. I like the look of the bigger one, that my be the go!!

Bloke across the road from me has a Hayman Reece type tow ball attachment on his front bullbar to move his large van around....might be any easy answer to your issue ?

Hey archer,

I also bought a cheapie same as the link above your post.

Mine stopped working in reverse as well, but it is a simple fix. Just pull the handle apart at the top and you will see under each side of the rocker switch there are little plastic stops moulded in the plastic handle to stop the switch from being pressed to far. You just need to grind/file the plastic lump so the rocker switch can be pressed in further in and this should allow the electrics to now make contact.

Sounds complicated but mine now works and it's great for moving my Starcraft in and out of storage.

Cheers Johno

Undid switch on handle...reverse connection had come off completely and the other two connections were a bit loose.
All good now.
