Title: companion gas oven with 2 burners on top
Post by: rexp on March 08, 2017, 02:06:10 PM
G'day all,
Has anyone got (and cooked up a delight with) one of those companion gas ovens with the 2 burners on the top??
If so, how do they go???
It has the front opening glass door on the oven, with temp gauge, etc...
The 2 burners on top have a sort of fold out windshield around the top when lid lifts up.
Bugger, tried to upload pic but no luck thus far.

Aha, thanks, we'll give that a crack,

https://www.tentworld.com.au/buy-sale/companion-2-burner-stove-oven (https://www.tentworld.com.au/buy-sale/companion-2-burner-stove-oven)

See if that means a lot more than my wobbly description.

Just worried when comparing the BTU specs, it seems it might be really slow(not hot enough) , but not real sure if I am reading/comparing this witchcraft of BTU correctly.

So thought the best would be if someone uses one in their CT first..??

I do not have the companion model but one from Coleman.  see link

It came with the trailer and decided to keep it.  For this trailer, I built the slide out kitchen from scratch and included this oven/stove in the design.  The oven does not often get used, usually only the first night for heating a premade frozen lasagne.

If I had another go at building the kitchen I would ditch it and only include a two burner stove top.  The oven takes up a lot of room for little benefit.

Saw one of these the other day on a Yanky site, An oven that fits most two burner stoves, and folded flat like a smoker box http://www.bcf.com.au/articles/bcf-cooking-guide/smoke-ovens-smokers/313 (http://www.bcf.com.au/articles/bcf-cooking-guide/smoke-ovens-smokers/313)     .Bit like this Coleman one .... . Wouldnt be too hard to get a metal shop to fab one up ..https://au.pinterest.com/explore/camping-oven/ (https://au.pinterest.com/explore/camping-oven/)

Hi Rex p,
I have one and it's the only thing I take in the Expanda. I have a BBQ plate for the two burners so I can BBQ steaks. With the two burners, you can also have two saucepans then there is the oven. I really like to keep an eye on the temperature as there is no thermostat control to speak of. We've done lamb, chicken, PIZZAS, yes PIZZAS, and at the Expanda forum meetup we had in Stanthorpe July last year, I even did a Sticky Date Pudding. While it was cooking in the oven, we did the caramel sauce on the top with the burners. You can do a full roast dinner with peas, beans and gravy all on the one stove all completed at the one time. I know it's not everyone cup of tea to cook like that, but we enjoy it. Made and distributed by Companion. Love it.
