hi all,
we have four 1200mm fluro fittings in our outdoor area that are in dire need of replacement.
i was looking around and came across these:

i can get them for about $70 each (including postage).
just wondering anyone has done this type of thing before and replaced standard fluro tubes with led fittings?
i have used led tubes in the past and they seem pretty good...
thoughts appreciated.

I haven't used the batten fitting but I have used the led replacement tubes and they work really well! I think Osram brand. Have been slowly replacing all the fluoro tubes in the house.

Recently installed a smallish LED wall mounted light at our front door (high set house, so light is about 3.5 - 4 metres in the air), amazing how much light this thing throws out for it's size, it lights up most of our front yard

Yes, its quite common. The old vanda light is a very common fitting, being a direct replacement but in an LED version is an attractive option as the foot print, fixing hole locations and cable entries are all the same making for a quick simple cost effective change over.

I could not think of a worse fitting that I would want in an out door entertaining area but I can understand why you would go the direct replacement option as per my above comment.
I would personally go for a look at some lighting shops and pick a nicer fitting particularly if its a covered area and try to go for something dimmable.

We weren't after anything flash, just wanted a light by the front door which we haven't had in 15 years of living here...lol. I was really surprised how much it lights up our front yard, it's no flood light for playing sport under, but there's definately no way of hiding in the dark there now.

We are changing out fluro battens to led with most of our corporate clients. It is a better light to work under. We recently did high bay lights and battens on a project hooked to a lux meter so they get brighter and dimmer depending on what the sun is doing. Pay back time is pretty short.

Hi,
j just fitted 6 Atom brand led lights to my shed that were around $40 each. Excellent light and easy to wire up.
Brought them from Rexel.

We have just fitted LED Fluro tubes with a slight blue ting in the Mens shed . The batons are 4M off the ground in banks of 6 , great light The double batons were donated , the tubes were @$15 each . Really cheap to run as well :cheers:
