As a Christmas present, I bought Kerry a 10 piece set of Magma pots and fry pan from Amazon..USA.
These are pots that fit inside each other, are stainless steel, with thick bases for even cooking.
For those that know my wife's enjoyment of camp cooking, she finds them brilliant...and they pack away easily and take up little space.
Anyone wanting to get a set of great camping pots & fry pan, and that take up little room, I strongly suggest looking a these.

Great timing mate......
Boss lady has managed to destroy all but one of our cookware pots over the years.
She just mentioned to me she needs some new pots for the new house and hey presto myswag to the rescue again!!!
Order online and I don't even have to go with her to hardly normal!!!

They look great. :cup: Only question for me would be whether I need the big pots for the 2 of us.

Available from Whitworth's if you want to use an Australian distributor.

I haven't compared pricing.
They're fantastic quality. Solid/heavy.

We have been using the same ones camping for years. Well worth the money.
We always comment how much better they are than our cookware at home!

Just like any quality stainless steel cookware

My misgiving about the 10 pc. set:
Only 2 lids, and one's a multifit.

Rob,
With only the 2 of us, we haven't needed any more than that....

Noticed that it said on the ad "Not for induction cooking".
Why would that be?
Stainless should be magnetic, which is what you need for induction.
Would induction get too hot for the pans or something ???

Amazon was US $175 + $45 shipping = $290 Oz
Whitworths is $299.99, already in country (if you've got Whitworth's nearby) :D

It could be that they have copper in the base. We put in an induction stovetop at home and had the get rid of our expensive stainless saucepans that weren't compatible. Missus thought it was magic as she had to go shopping again.

Fizzie,
Pots need to have a magnetic permeability to work with induction cooktops.
The stainless steels that are used for pots generally do not have a god magnetic permeability.
The only magnetic stainless steels are ferritic & duplex stainless steels. I don't believe that these are generally used in cookware.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Food cooks quicker with a lid on the pot.

There are some stainless steel pots and pans which are made for induction cooktops. In a previous life I had an induction cooktop and used this brand http://www.executivechef.com.au/product/2861-saucepan-2-2lt-180mm-s-steel-bourgeat (http://www.executivechef.com.au/product/2861-saucepan-2-2lt-180mm-s-steel-bourgeat) of pots and pans. They were brilliant but expensive.
-
Hi,
we found we needed an extra handle - and it wasn't cheap.
Nice pots, pleasure to use, but the pots are just a bit big for the two of us.
cheers
-
For a $100 more you can get them as an induction set.
Got ours from Whitworths also.
Sold our original set which was only twelve months old so we were only out of pocket a couple of hundred.
We have one of the Eco brand single induction cooker that you see at the shows. Multi wattage so you can use on genie or large inverter.
Cooking in the wind now is a breeze.
"Happy wife" so all good.!!

We have been using the magma 10 piece set for about 5 years.
They are one of the best purchases we have ever made.
Takes up little space
Easy to clean (steel wool brilliant if something bakes on)
Heavy base so cooks properly.
Proper handles that actually click in solid not just hook on.
Still all in perfect condition after 5 years.
On the 2 lid question, family of five with grown children and never needed more than 2 lids.
-
Great pots but...
As above, think carefully before you buy them, is the possibility that down the track you'll purchase an induction hot plate, even if you say no I would still get the induction hot plate model as that decision it came back to bite me in the bum.
Would be good if the fry pan was non stick.

You can buy them a spare part - see Non-Stick Sauté/FryPan (http://magmaproducts.com/store/product1384.html) and Non-Stick Induction Sauté/FryPan (http://magmaproducts.com/store/product1427.html)

Thanks for that, didn't know they were available.

Aldi have these this saturday for $70. Might be worth a look. Removeable handles and stackable.

I had a look at the above yesterday. ' Looked pretty good if you are only cooking for two or three. They come with two handles. Considering replacing my tefal ingenio set with some

2 Handles ?
Damn it! I'll have to go bin diving to check the box as I only see 1 with mine :(
cheers
-
My wife bought a set yesterday. They look great. Aldi has collapsible buckets and things as well at the moment.
-
I grabbed a set too. Some German brand of coating that looks to be reputable - we will see. Certainly freed up some space.
-
Phewww!
Found the 2nd handle in the bin dive ;)
cheers

The secret with stainless is never burn them or they'll include carbon in the steel structure and that's what makes the food stick thereafter. An abrasive cleaner like Gumption and elbow grease will polish them up to some extent and negate that a lot but if they're permanently discoloured even with polishing then they're a permanent sticker.
-
The aldi pot set has exactly rhe same handle as our campfire brand frypan with a removable handle. Pan is slightly smaller, but at the cost of $40 for one pan or $70 for the set, it was worth it. All stackable.
