Title: Drop Down Slide for Large fridge
Post by: Ray-C on January 07, 2017, 09:01:24 PM
Ok Swaggers,  I have a dilemma of owning a large trailblaza fridge.
I have just purchased a new 2nd hand troopy that came with draws ( that I don't really want to remove)
I only have a normal slide for my fridge. I have tried to get one professionally made with no luck.

I will be able to build one, but. my concerns are

Will a loaded 100lt fridge be too heavy to lift back up once it is lowered?
Has anyone done anything like this?

I just don't want to go to the time and expense to find it impossible to work.

Option 2

remove the draws and rebuild draws beside

Any Advice will be appreciated

Cheers Ray

MSA drop slide - Awesome.
Brought mine on ebay, have you checked if a Trailblaza fits?

Clearview ES-220 should be the best bet, much better design than the MSA, IMO.   180kg load capacity and 1500nm struts, should be good i think.

They are hard to come by 2nd hand, i need one and am trying to save paying full price.

Hi Ray, have you thought about a tilt slide rather than a drop slide?

Hi Guys , Thanks for the replies, I have tried msa and clearview websites but they are both still to small.

The wife doesn't like tilt slides.

I have even emailed a mob that builds to suit with no luck.

cheers Ray

Damn how big is the fridge?
Perhaps it might be easier to put an attic ladder under the slide, when the fridge comes out the stais go down.

yeah i had a 60ltr , and it was heavy, and large, sold it for 2 40ltr evakools, problem solved. I had a rear storage thing made up with fridge slide at floor height. even that was rather tall to get into, i can imagine how bad a 100 ltr is cause there same base just taller i think.

I carry a slim 3 step ladder to make it easier to pack up the Roof Tent, or put the bike on the rook rack.

I have a 60 litre Trailblaza,

Had the same thoughts about the weight factor, not so much for myself but when the bride decides she needs to get milk for another cuppa.  We got a MSA slide fits on top of the drawers in the back of the 80 and drops to just above the tailgate.  The 60 allows the bride to just reach the bottom of the fridge while standing flat footed, she is height challenged.  The MSA and other decent drop slides come with gas struts to help with the lift of the fridge so it's not like you are trying to lift a dead weight of, in your case 100+kgs.  The bride, also strenght challenged, can still lift the fridge and slide it away after she gets the milk for her cuppa.

If you get the slide for your fridge you will find a bigger gas strut to help with the lifting.
