Title: Jayco wind ups, bed end awning idea
Post by: Ozplanman on June 25, 2016, 04:01:41 PM
Just looking at a post the other day about Jayco wind-ups and the bed end awnings, so I thought I'd offer this suggestion.  Instead of putting the posts down and guy ropes out I have a fitting mounted to the van (just a towel rail support which comes in white and is available from Bunnings etc.) that the post is seated into and then just tie a guy rope around the centre of the bar that fits across the outer edge of the awning and drop that to the A frame at the front or the bumper at the back.  It's illustrated in the picture below.  Works a treat, and when you're packing up the awning can stay out until after you've pushed the beds in (great when it's raining) without any poles and ropes getting in the way.  I've had a great time modifying my van so may post some other ideas later.

Cheers

Oz.

Had seen a similar idea done with the early model Expanda's that also had the bag awnings
