Calling on the collective knowlege here.
Probably getting this a bit this a little backwards but. ......
Just bought a subaru that takes 95 ron petrol. Plan to tow the camper with it occasionally with it when the size and the capabilities of the landcruiser aren't required.
Don't plan to go to go too remote with it but just wondering how many petrol stations in the country / semi remote areas sell 95 or 98 ron fuel?

We had a 98 Ron sube (b4) for a long time. We carried a couple of bottles of octane booster in the boot. Only needed it a couple of times. You can get apps (I use the bp app) to plan trips. The app displays what fuels each servo carries.

This question comes up regularly on the Y62 Patrol forums more frequently now as more are taken to remote areas (one on the Tele Track at the moment). A surprising number of servos in obscure areas have at least 95 but do tend to run out. The Y62 runs fine on 91 (experience and its in the manual) so perhaps the Suby does too but with reduced performance? Octane booster if it doesn't.

x 2 it is $$$ tho I carried jerrys on the trailer also. I usually found 95 without to much trouble but once you get west not much 98 around.

So were you filling with normal 91 + booster?
We run our Forester on 91 round town, but switch to 98 when taking the CT away. Even on the Gold Coast, straight 95 appears to be hard to find - the servo's round us all show their 95 as E10 ethanol, which I don't want to put in the tank, thanks very much! >:(
Our last trip out to Warwick, stopped at servo's at top of Cunningham's Gap, then at Aratula on the way back & they both had 91 & 98 on the bowser.

Hey Fizzie just wondering what engine you have in the forester?
Also I looked at a photo inone of your earlier posts. Can you tell me the brand of lightbar you have and where you picked it up from?

No, not 91. We ran it on shell v power racing (100 Ron) when we could and had it tuned for Bp ultimate. A couple of times out west we couldn't get ultimate so we filled on 95 and octane boosted it. It wasn't a full on track car but it went pretty well for what it was.

Fozzee's got the standard 2.5l non-turbo.
As for the light-bar, I'm not sure, as can't find any receipts :-[
May have been Jaycar? It's a dual-row combo LED spot & flood - doesn't have extreme long range but it's OK, but it also lights up both sides of the road with brilliant white light. Forgot to take photo's when we were out in proper dark last time, but will try to get something around town for demo.

The new car has the steering leds on high and low beams so it should be reasonably good. But after doing $10k worth of damage to the Cruiser running into skippy 4 years ago I am a little paranoid.

Not really, only used it a couple of times out of fear more than anything.
Reverse engineering the question though, the little 2.0 l sube certainly let me know when the mrs skimped on fuel a couple of times. Knock sensors went ballistic.

It's an ECB NBS64SYP bar that was on the car when I got it, & apparently still available & fits all models to at least 2016?
