Title: the thunder box
Post by: Malgreen on February 27, 2016, 04:50:54 PM
Ok here is a slightly funny but serious question..

i have a Thunder box ,,

my question is this..

when using the plastic bag to catch ones waste.... what the hell do you do with the bag after???
dont say burn it,, i witnessed one of those moments when i was a kid ,, i'll never forget that...lol
i would imagine putting the bag in a bin but that would just be wrong i think and i dont like the idea about bury the thing..

so what would one do with it??

any suggestions would be appreciated ,,
thanks

We get the eco friendly bags, cut the end out of it so it makes a plastic chute to protect the thunderbox internals, put it in with it tucked over the top and put the seat down over it. At the end of the camp leave bag in place, lift lid and slide out the frame. Then bury the bag deep and cover it over and let it decompose away

Chuck it in the dirty washing bag and let the wife sort it out.  When I lived bush over WA a few years ago I used an old exploration drill hole for a long drop. I had a bucket of fire ash next to it and I used to through a spade load in after a visit. Used to stop smell and seemed to help break it all down. I always do the same when camping now. I don't know, it seems to work. I'm sure those plaky bags are biodegradable so I see a problem with burying it so long as it's deep enough.

As GG said use the biodegradable bags as a Shute and throw in some dirt after each visit.  At least you are making the effort unlike some who just craps anywhere 😄
