What ever you do make sure they are deep enough for the coat hangers with clothes on them. We had some put into a unit and the depth was marginal in that the coat hangers with out clothes were fine but put a jacket or coat on the hanger and the clothes rubbed on the internal sliding door. The outside door was fine. All depends on the room you have. Next time we had some installed we requested that the wardrobe be a little deeper. We used Wardrobe World but not sure if they are still going, they were in Frankston.
Cheers Lesley

Nice info.. :) Any clues to the size and price ya paid???

Also check out the sliding door options. most have dual track with 3 or 4 doors, but you find that makes the openings a pain in the but to access, because of limited movement on the track with the 2 doors. A 3 track system would be much better I reckon.

We have the Yellow Pages up here in Queensland for that sort of stuff.

I normally aim for 580 - 600mm clear internal. 550mm to me is bare minimum. Prefab stuff you buy from bunnings, ikea etc are normally around 500mm and gets pretty tight.
Grab one of your bigger jackets out and measure to make sure.
Most of the mass produced stuff is worked around sheet optimization, so if you go away from the norm the price goes up.

Was Wardrobe world and we had it made 700 deep to accommodate bigger items like bulky coats etc.... Think there were three doors
... there is a Wardrobe World in Moorabbin

Make sure your doors have even numbers, so do 2 doors or if it's wider and you need 3, make doors smaller and put 4 in. That way you always have half of the opening for access. If you have 3 doors you only have a 3rd

Hey Bruce, $750 to 1k, depending on quality of finish [Mirror doors, laminated etc]
Thats for a double door jobby. draws on one side.

most standard house cupboards in new house builds these days are either 510mm or 490mm internal size finished. Usually they'll allow 600mm less the size of framing... so if it's 70mm stud frame you get 530mm between the studs and less another 20mm for gyprock (giving 510mm finished size), if it's a 90mm frame you'll get another 20mm less then that again.

Yes, it's a bl@@dy pain in the butt with 3 doors on 2 tracks
