I have looking at a 45 litre tech ice fridge, but believe it needs re-gassing, has anyone regassed a fridge before?

Don't know the fridge but if it needs regassing then it has a leak and
depending on what is leaking it may not be a viable repair.

Also if the fridge doesn't work many will say it needs regassing, it may
it may not. Might be an electrical fault, could be a faulty compressor etc,
if you don't know exactly what the problem is and the expected repair
bill I would suggest you steer clear of it.

As above, why does it need a re gas?  This need to be done by a refrigeration mechanic as the gas is a controlled material.  If the gas has leaked out expect a minimum cost of $120 however it depends on where it has leaked and if/how it can be repaired

Thanks for the advice, she was asking $150, I was thinking $75, but might not be worth tracking what the real problem is

Unlikely the gas has escaped unless the system has been physically damaged which can happen with portables. If it's been punctured and the sealed system has been open to the atmosphere I'd say forget it but if it works but doesn't drop the temp enough it might be worth a go if you pick it up cheap. I believe the Techice has the common Danfoss pump setup and there are a number of troubleshooting vids around on them if you search-

i have heard
that if the unit is run without gas this could also damage the compressor
so a quick regas may not be the only thing wrong with it
