Absolutely sickening. What gets me is where are these low life grubs getting their arms from.  Countries need to target the suppliers.  I know they get their money from oil wells, so start targeting them.  Target those who buy off them.  I am sure the authorities have thought about this so it must be extremely difficult and too simplistic.  (And to think the new prime minister of Canada has pulled all of their efforts in targeting ISIS.  Good on ya, let the rest of the world do the dirty work.)  Kevin

Gutless turds that attacked unarmed people....wow they are tuff aren't they. Media should start referring to them as coward attacks, sounds more appropriate then using the word terriost to me, as all it does is promote the fear in people, which is what these grubs are trying to achieve.

Sad to say it but  countries have done this to themselves through the the joys of  world wide deeply entrenched hard fought for freedoms, Virtual open borders,  unlimited fast travel, unlimited social global comunications, multy cultural societies that can become the breeding grounds for any sychopaths to use as tools to,  indoctrinate radicalize and rain terror from within any country they choose ...
Going to a very very hard fight this one, if not impossible to win  ..  Going to be very hard for governments to convince populations to give up freedoms they take for granted or beleive to be their rights to have ,  that are now being used against them from within so that the sycho's can be cut off and strangled effectively to be defeated . .

I was walking through the mega shopping centre -- ("Westfield Garden City") at about 8:45am this morning...   For those whom may not know...  this is a massive; (approx 1,200 shop strong) shopping centre in Brisbane...

The joint was already buzzing....    Passing by in the opposite direction I saw a lady (with her young family) walking past.

The lady was dressed in a Hijab...

As she scurried past; I just looked at her and marveled at the point that no doubt she would have appreciated the great extent to which this great nation is so racially; and faith-based; tolerant...

For her to be walking her family through the arcades of what some may call "the infidels" - and not be paranoid about being abused; or assaulted - (given the latest atrocities that have descended upon the birth of the libertines - FRANCE) ... just makes me so proud to be a Aussie...

If only other geopolitical regions of the word were a fraction as tolerant - the whole world would be a much happier place....

Its a bit hard for me to comprehend, just how far someone will go, to inflict such pain and suffering upon people they have never met, simply because they don't have the same God/Allah/beliefs/religion or whatever the hell it is that runs around in their screwy little brains.

Well its a fact that when citizens of Muslim faith elect to kill;  maim; murder; and destroy filthy swine infidels; (aka any non-Muslim man; woman; or child)   - they see this as a great thing to have achieved...

Their faith tells them that this act guarantees place for them; (stacked with virgins; milk and honey) - in Paradise...   (the Afterlife)

http://wikiislam.net/wiki/72_Virgins (http://wikiislam.net/wiki/72_Virgins)

Terrorism
Suicide is clearly forbidden in Islam, but the permissibility of martyrdom operations (Istishhad) is an altogether different topic, with scholars being split on the issue.

Notable scholars and apologists such as Shaykh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, the world's most quoted independent Islamic jurist,[44] and Dr. Zakir Naik, known for his advocacy of "Qur'anic science", have justified the use of suicide bombing in Islam.[45][46][47] Opinion polls have further shown that an extremely large number of Muslims from around the world support the practice.[44][48][49][50]

The Qur'an states that all Muslim males, not only martyrs, will be rewarded with virgins.[27] However, the Qur'an does also mention that those who fight in the way of Allah (jihad) and get killed will be given a "great reward",[51] and there are also hasan (good) hadith[33] which refer to 72 virgins as one of the "seven blessings from Allah" to the martyr.[32] This has lead to the 72 virgins concept being widely used as a way to entice other Muslims into carrying out "martyrdom operations" for Islam.

Israel has direct links to the US government....check how many are jews, so that won't change.

It's unfortunate that religion is responsible for nearly all major conflicts around the world for the last 500+ years, and doesn't appear like that will change, and if I had a solution, I'd be in line for a nobel peace prize.

If only we could educate the muslims and tell them those virgins are not going to happen !! 8) 8)

Each week out awesome scientists find something that will kill you or give you cancer... Coffee, Milk, Bread, Water, Air, Chicken, Beef, Veggies, Lamb, Pork, Air, Water, Duck, etc

This weeks "THIS WILL GIVE YOU CANCER" research result.

Toast and Potatos.

Beware the crispy roast potato and the crunchy slice of toast. Both contain worryingly high levels of a cancer-causing chemical.

In reading that I note that it is crispy potato, and blackened toast. Its also well known that very well done meats increase cancer risks in a huge way.

Sounds like over-cooked anything builds cancer producing toxins.

But to me anything in moderation is fine, just don't over-do any factor in your diet.

Luckily I have not read that beer consumption is cancer-inducing - then I'd be in BIG trouble. ;D

Interestingly -- over half of all bowel cancer comes from frequent carbon eaters and volume red meat eaters... ie more that 80-120gms 3 days a week; (as well as anything chared;...  meat;   cremated toasts etc)..

But heck...   its your finerals - so flame-away..... but its just a pitty that its costing us all regarding the burden and drain on our public health resources. ...

Ignorance may be akin to arrogance and bliss - but too bad the tax payers all; have to pick up the tab for the bowel cancer surgeries   etc....

That's a very good point; Plusnq....   (about where our collective health tax dollars get spent...)    But the young we do need to invest in as this is our nation's future...

Regarding the elderly - I marvel at how relativity healthy; and well preserved; older people (on much better diets) are - in other parts of the world...   (Think parts of the Mediterranean; Japan; etc...)

I'm not sure I'd agree with your last statement. In my long career in health there has been much research into diets and longevity that gets regularly debunked many years later. There are groups of people who do live longer lives but diet alone is a poor correlation. Strong social networks, care for the elderly, availability of healthcare, all have been shown to have similar levels of correlation. Diet is popular with the media because it can sell women's magazines, and also contribute to their mental state with poor body image, low self esteem etc. It sells and advertisers can push their dodgy products at the consumer. It's a lot harder to sell get out camping with your mates and relax. Well maybe bcf, Ray's and the breweries have a market there  ;D

Charlie Sheen has Aids..

He got it from being in two and a half men.

Quote
Charlie Sheen is expected to announce he's the Hollywood actor diagnosed with HIV, after rumours swirled about a superstar hiding their diagnosis from partners.

The former Two and a Half Men star will appear on NBC's Today show to make a "revealing personal announcement", the network said.

Hollywood gossip website TMZ reported that Sheen would confirm his diagnosis, following recent media reports.

The interview was announced just as the National Enquirer prepared to publish a story confirming his HIV diagnosis.

The article includes interviews with his ex-wife and other former partners, who said he didn't disclose his HIV status to them, Radar Online reported.

Sheen has previously boasted of sleeping with up to 5000 women.

Last week, Britain's The Sun reported that an A-lister, described as "a womaniser", had known of his HIV-positive status for years

His lawyers were said to be bracing for potential legal action over his failure to disclose his HIV status.

"The reality is that if he's knowingly put women at risk then that's disgusting and it's only a matter of time before that becomes public," a source told The Sun.

At least one terror suspect has been killed, a female suicide bomber, during a police operation in the Paris suburb of Saint Denis.

Explosions, heavy shooting, and automatic gun fire were concentrated around an apartment in the centre of the suburb where three suspects were holed up.

The target of the raid was the suspected 'mastermind' of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud

cause of death - I thought nothing could stop that heart!

Quote
New Zealand rugby legend Jonah Lomu died from cardiac arrest related to his kidney condition, family spokesman and former All Blacks coach John Hart said.

At a press conference to announce funeral and ceremonial arrangements for Lomu, who died overnight on Tuesday, Hart revealed that Lomu's widow Nadene was struggling to come to grips with the sudden loss just a day after arriving back from Dubai following the Rugby World Cup in England.

Yeah, we got evacuated from SeaWorld Resort today. I watched it come over to the resort and it got very close. Not good to see Police and Fireys at the front entrance. They got in under control pretty quickly.

man, you're just Mr Adventure. Having said that, no need to fly to the GC to see fire and smell smoke on your doorstep. Unless of course you flew up for a training exercise to prepare for this Summer;D

Hope everyone is safe.

Yeah all safe, it was lucky I was at the Resort at the time as I was able to jump in the hire car, drive out and pick up the wife & son who were at SeaWorld itself. We high tailed it to MovieWorld and stayed there for the rest of the day, the others were stuck in the SeaWorld car park in 32+ heat for the afternoon.

Unfortunately mental health is also a major factor in many cases.(I dont know details of these cases)
It is a major health problem critically under funded and it all too quickly falls off the radar when it is highlighted.
You'd be surprised by the numbers affected. No longer supported in mental hospitals and secure facilities, many are living unsupported amongst the community.
Theres no votes in mental health care and thus gets little funding.
The public see more priorities in having sporting facilities and public transport.

But yes your right, theres also an alarming number of people who use drinking and drugs as an excuse.
Its not an excuse, its the reason they did unspeakable crimes. As such they need to face real punishment, not these weak sentences dished out all the time.
The weak judiciary sentencing is part reason for the growing crime. There is no fear of the punishment, if any that is dished out. And it starts from young learning that even though they are the criminal, that in some perverse way their rights are equal to or sometimes even greater than their victims.

The NSW state government is following up its 2015 election promise to deliver digital licences, with the first downloadable batch coming out mid 2016.

The first licences to go digital will be recreational fishing licences, responsible service of alcohol (RSA) licences, and responsible conduct of gambling (RCG) licences.

NSW Minister of Finance and Services, Dominic Perrottet, is expected to announce the initiative on Wednesday during his keynote speech at the GovInnovate forum in Canberra.

People used to steal wallets in the old days too. The danger doesn't lie with the individual really. It lies with the issuing authority being hacked and millions of licenses being stolen and used in identity theft. I thinks thats probably why they are trialling with less significant licenses so they can give the hackers more time to figure it out. Of course the NSW Government will think they are making it robust but.........

Straddy's turn to sink...

Quote
A "sinkhole" has swallowed up a section of North Stradbroke Island.

A member of the public notified Surf Life Saving Queensland of the collapse at Jumpin Pin, a stretch of main beach on the southern tip of North Stradbroke Island, on Wednesday afternoon.

It is understood no one was around when the beach fell into the sea.

The estimated 100m long hole is 15 kilometres from the nearest patrolled section of main beach.

Jumpin Pin beach is a popular fishing spot and only accessible by 4WD.

A Surf Life Saving Queensland spokesperson warned people to stay away from the "sinkhole" as the area around it was unstable and more sand could break off.

LMAO!!!! ... and what does he have to loose? Sounds like Ralph back home, his was suspended for 45 years over time.

Quote
It was a moment when magistrate Tony Murray realised he might not have seen it all.

The Albury magistrate looked up at the police prosecutor, smiled, then remarked incredulously at what he had just read.

The accused denied having any knowledge of his licence suspension.

It's not uncommon for defendants facing traffic charges to already be on hefty licence bans. But Peter Howorth's record was unique.

A police check revealed the North Albury man was indeed banned from holding a licence.                             For 99 years.

That meant he was off the road until at least September 16, 2114.

By that time, Howorth would be 123.

Carrying on from the thread under Navigation & Comms where people have been discussing when you can & can't touch your phone ...

It's common (but apparently not all States?) that if your phone is in a cradle, you can only touch it if you're safely stopped at the side of the road, with the engine turned off.

Get stopped at RBT / roadworthy check / anything - "Please blow in here" "Thanks, all clear, but may I please check your licence?" Sure thing - take phone out of cradle, open "Licence" folder, show it to him - Ah yes, thank you, using mobile phone while driving - that's 3 points & $300 isn't it, or has it gone up again?

GOLD GOLD GOLD!

Quote
When residents on Sydney's lower north shore heard a man yelling "I'm going to kill you, you're dead!" followed by a woman's hysterical screams, they feared the worst.

Numerous police cars rushed to the Wollstonecraft apartment from which the cries were emanating.

But not all was as it seemed.

.....

According to the social media post, the encounter went something like this:

Male: "I don't know what you're talking about I live alone".

Police: "Come on mate, people clearly heard you yelling you were going to kill her and furniture getting thrown around the unit."

Police: "Come on mate, what have you done to her?"

Male: "It was a spider."

Police "Sorry??"

Male: "It was a spider, a really big one!!

Police : "What about the women screaming?"

Male: "Yeah sorry that was me, I really, really hate spiders."

I know there are waterproofing methods but it's just something else to lose. It's why, when using the 'yak, I have just a single vehicle key on a float so, if I do lose it, I haven't lost the car, house, shed keys etc as well!
I do take the phone when on the boat.

we came across 2 dudes at Carpenters Rocks on long weekend who were diving, and lost their car key.. they flagged us down to help em, as their phone etc was locked in the car... phone call to family member using our phone and they were happy...
Sometimes cause the technology is there doesn't mean it should be used and its a good idea.

The taxi industry breathes a sigh of relief.

Quote
A Beligian car entrepreneur is reportedly in talks with Canberra to continue Holden Commodore production in Adelaide, a motoring website is reporting:

A Belgian automotive entrepreneur with ties to General Motors is behind a secret plan to acquire GM Holden's Elizabeth assembly plant and continue to build the current generation Commodore beyond the scheduled closure date in late 2017.

The plan has been brewing quietly behind the scenes for two years since GM announced it was closing the South Australian factory and ceasing production of the locally-designed and developed Commodore family.

The businessman who has taken an interest in Elizabeth and the Commodore is Guido Dumarey, the owner of the Punch Group, also sometimes referred to as Punch International.

Within his business portfolio is a former GM transmission plant now known as Punch Powerglide Strasbourg, which he took over in January 2013 and supplies the 6L45 automatic to Holden for V6 versions of the Commodore.

The independent South Australian senator Nick Xenophon is understood to be a supporter of Dumarey.

Could be a good money spinner for him .. pick up all the right stock piled bits cheap, let the current Holden company do all the advertising / development work for the hottest holden ever built ... Then continue that it in a limited low volume production specials  line till the parts stock pile and presses are worn out ..

Sydney's housing future will mirror its past, in a vision outlined by the state's planning minister on Friday.

The inner-city terrace, a style that became synonymous with Sydney's poor in the mid-19th century, will be spread through the outer suburbs, in a proposal released on Friday. Experts have praised the model but warned it could lead to uncomfortably close contact with neighbours.

Sydney needs more than 600,000 new dwellings in the next 15 years. The government believes meeting that target will require giving more attention to the middle ground between the high-density apartment block and the detached home.

The draft plan would allow residents to squeeze into a maximum of 10 filigree terraces on blocks no smaller than 600 square metres.

1 the horse reporting it? Not too many Mr Eds I know of.
2 the sicko who likes horses feels remorse? Nah, their sickos remember!
3 the Mrs catches him. The only one that makes sense.

Two crocodiles have been snapped by a photographer in a fight to the death in tropical North Queensland.

The two salties were seen at the Catfish Waterhole in Lakefield National Park on Cape York Peninsula.

It appears to have been a very one-sided fight

The smaller croc is flipped about in the fight before it is seen disappearing down the throat of the much bigger crocodile

We go fishing just down from this water hole, Lakefield National Park water hole are full of salties, and sometimes they get a bit friendly, coming within a few metres of your boat while fishing.

Breading season would be on and these fights are fairly common during this time.

methinks there are no real innocent parties in this first world drama.

We camped in that camp ground last week.  The sink hole has warning signs and advises to keep out but there were people fishing in the hole and kids swimming, even car tracks along the beach right up to the edge of the hole!  A lot of vehicles and a large tour bus were using the beach exit/entry not far from the hole to exit after coming back on the barge, a much better track then the usual longer and softer sand from the barge to the road.  You would think the authorities must be happy with the safety of that area now.  Kevin

That point changes each year.  Sand builds up, sand gets taken away.  Has been happening since I first visited there by boat some 35 years ago.  Just watch the flow of water out through there when the Mary River is in flood!  And the waves on the ocean side can be enormous.  Some years ago a trawler went down not far out. Witnesses said it just disappeared in a large wave.  My father in law was a keen fisherman and he use to live at Rainbow Beach and he had some amazing stories of that area (Inskip Point).     Kevin

Appreciated staff members....

Does a $100,000 bonus for a job well done beat a pat on the back?

US oil and gas company Hilcorp's 1350 employees think so.

Every single employee - no matter how junior - received a $US100,000 ($137,000) bonus this year as part of a company-wide incentive program called "Dream 2015" to double the company's size.

And it did.

Hilcorp receptionist Amanda Thompson said: "It's just a true gift."

The bonus motivated everyone to do their absolute best, said Ms Thompson, who has worked with the company for 10 years.

She told Fox 26 nobody was going to give "any less than 100 per cent each day".

Hilcorp's payout has been hailed as the ultimate Christmas bonus by newspapers looking for good news stories, even though the bonus was paid in the US spring.

The actor Nicholas Smith – best known for playing Mr Cuthbert Rumbold in the BBC television comedy Are You Being Served? – has died aged 81.

“It is with great sadness we can confirm that our client, the actor Nicholas Smith, passed away yesterday,” said a statement from his agent, Michelle Braidman Associates. “He was a lovely man and a terrific actor. He will be much missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with his family.”

Smith died in hospital on Sunday. His daughter is actor Catherine Russell, who plays Serena Campbell in Holby City.

Are You Being Served? first aired in 1972, with Smith as Mr Rumbold, the manager of the fictional department store Grace Brothers. Smith was a fixture on the show until its end in 1985, and was the last surviving member of the original cast.

This sort of stuffs been goning on for a while now, think they would have set up a Geo fence type of security perimeter jamming station that scrambles the radio controls and crashes the drone before it gets over the prison .

Overnight news-  Straight out of the old 'BELIEVE IT OR NOT'

A British jury only took 30 minutes to find a Saudi millionaire not guilty of rape after he claimed he accidentally penetrated an 18-year-old girl on his couch when he tripped and fell.

The girl testified she and a 24-year-old friend had gone back to property developer Ehsan Abdulaziz’s apartment after a drink in an exclusive nightclub.

The 46-year-old old then took her friend into the bedroom and she fell asleep on the couch.

She told court she awoke to find Abdulaziz on top of her and forcing himself inside of her.

He denied that story. Instead, Abdulaziz claimed he came out of the bedroom to offer the girl a T-shirt to sleep in or pay for a cab ride home. But when she pulled him towards her, he fell. He said that’s when his erect penis must have accidentally penetrated her.

That’s how traces of his DNA could have been found in her vagina, he claimed, as he'd just had sex with her friend.

Brings to mind a certain Bruce Willis movie where he used a similar line.....  Kevin

Police are hunting a group of juveniles who tied a rope across a road that struck a motorcyclist, before they beat him as he lay injured on Thursday night.

The disturbing incident happened on Wellington Street about 11.30pm.

The 19 year-old victim, from Guildford, was riding his motorcycle east along Wellington Street in front on the Perth Train Station near the Green Cactus installation, when he was struck in the throat and dislodged by a piece of rope the group tied across the road.

"He was able to move onto the paved area in front of the train station, where he removed his helmet, but was immediately surrounded by a group of juveniles," a police spokesperson said.
"One of the juveniles then struck him over the back of his head with a glass bottle."

The man suffered cuts to the back of his scalp and rope burns on his neck and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

Now I wonder why we are losing the battle with drugs.  ??? ??? ???   The media says policing has failed.  What about this for part of the problem.

As reported in Qld media, Drug-dealing realtor walks free after being sentenced to 18 months’ jail, wholly suspended. HE HAD a $1400 a week drug habit and hid “ice” in a secret panel in his kitchen, but now high-flying real estate agent Ryan McCann has walked from court a free man.
McCann, 37, was once named one of Australia’s top real estate agents and earned up to $500,000 a year, but had a spectacular fall from grace when police raided his home last September and found methylamphetamines in a secret kitchen compartment.
He grinned outside court yesterday after Brisbane District Court Chief Judge Kerry O’Brien handed down an 18-month jail term, to be wholly suspended for the next two years.
For two years, police intercepted his phone calls during Operation Kilo Whiskey and also discovered he was texting drug customers on his work phone using code words like “present” for ice.
It culminated in the raid on his home, where almost 4mg of ice was found along with drug utensils in a secret compartment in his kitchen.
He pleaded guilty to 24 charges of suppling dangerous drugs to five people, although a trafficking charge was dropped and the court was told there was no commercial gain to his offending.

The court system is getting worse and there appears to be nothing we can do about it.  The Judges and Magistrates are above us all.. Even our current politicians will not take them on and there are things they can do.   Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, just makes me so mad  >:(  Kevin

Untill such time as some of these judges family members and their personal property and assets become the victims of these crims and scumbags, then i don't think things will change anytime soon.
They all live in their ivory towers and within their own circles, and have no concept of what real victims of crime, who are real everyday people like you and i, have to go through when being robbed, raped, ripped-off or beaten  as nobody really cares about victims. It is all about the criminal and his unfortunate upbringing, and poor me syndrome and how can we help and rehabilitate him.   >:( >:(

One man is dead and one woman injured after a truck collided with five cars and exploded in a horrific accident in Footscray, causing chaotic scenes in Melbourne's inner west.

The truck was carrying gas bottles and exploded on the corner of Barkly and Gordon Streets just before midday, near Whitten Oval after the accident.

The force of the blast took down two live power lines, blew out the windows of nearby houses, and caused the roof of a nearby building to collapse.
