Title: Suspension upgrade on playdo 150 ATM and leftover suspension
Post by: briann532 on October 31, 2015, 06:58:29 AM
I have finally got round to getting the ATM upgrade done on the Playdo.

I can now legally tow 3000Kg with it.  ;D ;D ;D

I had the suspension upgrade done by Beresfield Automotive who were very helpful.
They then sent me to an engineer in Cardiff who was also very helpful and I now have it all done.

I now have a set of Kings springs, Bilstein shocks and Firestone "coilrite" airbags leftover....... :'(
I only put them in 50,000 kms ago for quite a hefty sum and now they are "spare"
Even though they recognised they are a great product and they replaced with almost exactly the same (Ironman springs and shocks - and firestone bags), they would only approve it with their products.
I suppose this is fair enough as they don't know who put them in or where they came from etc etc.

Do you think its worth trying to sell them or keep them as spares, or recycle them?
They are 50k kms old and are 2" lift.
I also don't have the airbag hoses as they reused my kit which goes in the cabin.

Cheers all and have a good weekend.
Brian

You replaced King Springs and Bilstien shocks for Ironman gear for the ATM upgrade?

Yes............ It was the only way I could get it approved.
They supply and fit their gear for it to be compliant......
A bit odd as personally I have no beef with Ironman gear, I actually reckon its quite good, but the Kings and Bilsteins are a better combo in my opinion.
Obviously I am unqualified to say so, but its my car and my opinion......

Anyway, the engineer was happy and signed the certificate to say so ;D.

It was a far cheaper option than upgrading a 2 year old Playdo with lots of fruit added.

Yep same as the Lovells kit. That's how the engineer has rated it, otherwise they need to go through the whole approval process again and cost to certify different brand. Brian you'll get good dollar for it mate I'd say around 1/2 new price so just try ebay or the classifieds. Maybe put it in prado point?
