Well after alot of research and been so busy at work I bought a dmax.Got a demo and pretty happy. Now my question is,there is a redark under the bonnet and two Anderson plugs in the back, when the red light on the redark is on there is power in both plugs.Does any one no how this might be set up(can I just put a second battery to one of these plugs and if so do I need to use a fuse) Thanks everyone

Probably used for battery packs.........
I run a circuit breaker either side of the redarc..........

The redarc is a voltage sensitive relay. When the red light is on, the relay is closed and the cranking battery is connected to the Anderson plugs. When the voltage of the cranking battery drops to below 12.7 volts, the relay opens and isolates the cranking battery to stop it draining further and ensuring it has enough charge to start your vehicle.
Here is the manual http://www.redarc.com.au/images/uploads/images/SBI_Instruction_Manual.pdf (http://www.redarc.com.au/images/uploads/images/SBI_Instruction_Manual.pdf)

Thanks for the info,so am I right in saying I can plug a 2nd battery into the Anderson plug at the back

You SHOULD be able to......check the size of wiring and try and see why they put 2 anderson plugs there ?
-
One of the Anderson may be switched via ignition and be connected directly to alternator for a 3 way fridge.

He said when the red light was on, there was power on both plugs..

Red light usually only comes on once engine is running and main battery comes up above voltage cutoff point.

Yep, and ??

Hi,
Now the power at charging voltage can be used to charge your house battery and run fridge/lights etc.
Cheers

Fooled me too. ignition can be off and the red light will sometimes stay alight indicating the batteries are both connected. Means the main battery is well charged and has no need to isolate the 2nd battery until it's voltage goes below a certain point where it separates them.

What I was trying to indicate was the OP needs to check the Anderson plugs with the red light off but ignition on to see if there is 12v on one or none. Obviously, if one Anderson is ignition switched and engine is running with red light on both Anderson plugs will have 12v.
