Title: Goodbye Tassie and hello Darwin
Post by: Smallsville on July 27, 2015, 04:32:54 PM
To all of our many myswag friends in Tassie, Emma and I would like to say goodbye and thanks for the many great trips travelling around this awesome state. We have been in Tassie for 3 years and meet some amazing people. Today's my last day in Tassie, and while drinking a Boags at the airport waiting for our flight, I wonder what lays ahead and what beverage I will have to drink in Darwin. So take care Tassie and hello Darwin members.
????????????????????????????????????????????????
Andy and Emma.

One thing is absolutely certain. You will not have beer in the Territory that will come anything close to what is available in Tassie.  ;D

You'll  love it in darwin. I do.

Takes a little bit to climatize. What helped us makes it easier.
Yep its hot. So what. (Very much mind or matter)
I'm sweating like a pig. No fear EVERYONE  is. I guarantee it.
it's raining, you'll  get wet, not even worth trying not to.
Enjoy  the weather right now.  It the best it gets.
Fill the fridge  with beer. And I'll  come round and drink it for you.

Ps as above no one drinks cascade for a reason.

Joe

You were that disappointed about the Dockers and Hawks result at Launceston the other week, you decided to shoot off to Darwin.
A bit drastic don't you think doing the move so you wont be tempted to see another live flogging in the near future.  ;D.

All the best mate

I'm confused, what was wrong with the Hawks v Dockers result?  ;D

WRT the original post, I've sort of gone the other way. 14 years in Darwin, I loved 13 of them, 7 in FNQ before moving to Tassie last year.  I don't miss being hot and sweaty. Hang in there, the first "build up" will be hard but one acclimatises.

How did you get that old cruiser and humpy up north?

It was easy. Some guy came in, loaded it on a truck and hopefully it will turn up. I think this is the first time my legs have seen sunlight in a while. The kids are having a hard time with the concept that it's winter and we are wearing shorts and there is no snow..

I'll leave the docker comments alone until we win the GF this year.

Its a beautiful place up there.  I spent three months there during National Service in 1967.  The rain during the wet season has got to be seen to be believed and the humidity will leave you looking like you just stepped out of the shower all day but you will love it.

My wife and I intend going back next year via as many bush tracks as we can find.

Be careful of the mosquitoes though.  I took part in a basic three day Army exercise that was carried out in the bush close to the combined civil airport and RAAF base.  The other troops told me the mosies were so big that they would land on the runway at night then walk through the bush and bite you.

Every now and then you say and do something funny - one of them was owning a Datsun I will leave another thing that comes to mind after the grand final :)
