Hi all
Thinking of moving up to the Sunshine Coat within the next couple of years.
Are there any members who are RE agents or knows anybody contacted with the real estate industry. We would like to get a fix on prices and areas of suitability. Need higher school education (Catholic), near beach, and or hinterland. Around Mooloolooba upwards including Coolum and Peregian. Cheers and waiting to hear all the smart a%#se comments from members near and dear to me ;D

What's right with Melbourne?
When it's windy houses don't blow away.
When it rains they don't get washed away.
When the sun comes out you don't get 3rd degree burns.
and that was just in 1 day.
and we deport the grey nomads

No cane toads in Melbourne, or fire ants, or mozzies, or midgies, or huge cockroaches.

I have a cousin that lives up that way I will see if I can get in touch with her if there is anyone she can recommend.

Happy to start you off.
Schools: Heaps of them. Depends on your budget. My kids go to St Andrew Anglican College. I couldnt care about religion to tell you the truth.......had that belted out of me at Nudgee College. The best schools are St Andrew's (Peregian), Sunshine Coast Grammar (Forrest Glen) and Immanuel (Buderim). They are also the highest fee schools. There are others that are also very good, so it really comes down to where you want to live.
What type of house do you want and whats your budget (PM me this bit if you want).
I used to be a valuer, but that job sucks, so know most of the suburbs well enough, particularly where you have mentioned and can put you onto the right people to talk to.........I only deal with commercial sales these days.
Also, if you are searching and see something that interests you shoot me the link (paul.butler@raywhite.com) and I will shoot you my thoughts.

Hi Fuji, we split our time between the Blue Mts NSW were work is, but spend a lot of time on the sunny coast having a place in Twin Waters on North shore of Maroochy river. Have been coming for many years with wifes extended family living up here. I personally like the strip from the north shore and up to Coolum and Peregian beaches but my favourite spot is Mudjimba beach, not over developed with but close enough to nearby towns to get your every day supplies, and good access to motorway and Airport nearby. Not sure about the school issues as our kids are out on their own in Brisbane but there seems to be a few different private schools around.
House prices are still reasonable compared to other places like Sydney.
Like many areas of Aust employment is the issue. If I wasn't so fussy about work and listened to wife we would be up here permanently.
Good luck

Would be a very nice place to live actualy, Should be bugger all people around the place as most of them are up here !!! ;D ;D

Fuji,
We live near the Sunshine Coast so I will leave the real estate advise to someone else.
As for schools, we looked at them all. Decided on Sunshine Coast Grammar...Haven't looked backed. GREAT overall environment for the kids, and a very well run School, and Maria Woods is the Principal. (Look her up on Google and that will give you some indication).
Good luck with your decision and move.
