Title: Podcasts
Post by: Spartan on June 23, 2015, 10:18:16 PM
I work in a job that requires a reasonable amount of commuting, so I've gotten into listening to podcasts to pass the time. But I've only found a couple of podcasts that I like so far and they are only an hour or so long and released every one or two weeks, so I need some more to help me fill in the time.

Anyone have any that they subscribe to and can recommend? I'm not fussy on the topic - it can be about anything - I'll just have a listen and see if they're ones that I find interesting.

The main ones I've been listening to are the Flitetest and FTAfter Hours ones which are mainly about radio controlled flight.

Thanks in advance...

Contact your local library, and get yourself onto the Library's audio books download or the Android app or Iphone app..   the audio books are usually something like about 12 hours long, and really do pass the time away when you are travelling.

I commute up to two hours a day...sometimes I enjoy podcasts from the ABC or iTunes.
My problem is making time to get organised with downloading new content.

Cheers!
Andrew

I did a lot of kms in my last job and I would listen to audio books as well. I found them to be great.

Now I don't do as many just 20min to and from so I have switched to podcasts. Some that I like are,

The grill team Sydney. It has matt johns, Mark geyer and Gus worland. It is sports based
The rush hour sydney. Sports based.
Richard fidler conversations. Interviews
Serial. It is a documentary on a murder case in Baltimore.
Plus other triple m shows.

I hope this helps.

I'm always listening to Podcasts when in the car, some of my favourites are:

Security Now - great weekly IT security podcast from the Twit network
Gun Dudes - very funny bunch of guys talking about guns and shooting
Android Central Podcast - all about Android phones and tablets on a weekly basis
Planet Money - weekly podcast about money, think economics 101
The Australian Hunting Podcast - name says it all
Stuff you should know - how things work
Dr Karl on TripleJ - it's Dr Karl

If you use an app like Pocket Casts it has listings of featured, trending and top podcasts - whenever I'm bored I just kinda pick a new one at random.

I spend up to 3 hours a day commuting and really enjoy listening to podcasts as a break from watching movies or TV shows.

Here are some of the ones I enjoy.

Serial - Murder mystery doco - new season coming out soon apparently
Criminal - Mini version of Serial with a new criminal case/story each week
Hack - Triple J's arvo radio show
PM Live - Podcast of the audio from Paul Murrays PM Live show on Sky News (I don't often get to watch it).
Stuff you Should Know -large back library and interesting topics
The Black Tapes - Similar to Serial but with a focus on the paranormal
This American Life - Interesting stories about real people albeit Yanks...
Hardcore History - I didn't study History at school and I'm really enjoying the topics available here.

Used to listen to V8 nation, it changed to the rev up. Has no finished.
Am currently listening to Mark Bouris Podcast. Finding it enjoyable ( it's focus is on small business etc).
