Heading to Cardwell from Tully yesterday and counted 93 camper trailers. ;D
What got me counting was as I was turning out onto the highway there was a convoy of 17.
They were all heading north too. ;D

Hey Sol,
Funny you should mention that - I've been working up at Cape Trib and have noticed a marked increase in camper trailer numbers the last week or so while driving up and back. I was thinking it must be the season - like the whales migrating north eh ? Are you getting this drizzly /rainy weather down your way too?
Cheers

I don't mind the numbers as we will be there soon, but I wish those in groups would be mindful of the noise they make at night! The voice level raises to suit the number in the group and there is always one very loud person. Not like me, very quite and reserved  Kevin.

Lol......I had to re read this 2 or 3 times til I realised you weren't talking about people lining up in convoys to drop their dodgy CT off at the council tip..........;D

Lucky enough to be sitting at Loyalty Beach CP at the moment and it isn't crowded at all and the weather is perfect. 28 degrees light breeze.

I was thinking there might have been some product recall article in this thread! Or a pic of a Ford!! >:D

Just back from the Cape last night, passed several convoys heading north along the Bloomfield track and few south of Cairns. Roads north are good but won’t last long with the traffic
If heading north slow down on the gravel and travel with your head lights on. Several triple side tippers and a few road trains along the developmental road

Yep I was in cairns for the weekend and I couldn't believe the amount of vehicles heading up the cape.

Maybe the school holidays starting this Friday for NSW and QLD have more than something to do with it!

I think I have to ban myself driving the M1 till that time also, getting itchy feet, see the 100's of vans heading north.

I am researching a trip in 2016 you the Cape. I was looking at the Bloomfield Track and read that it has changed from a bona fide bush track to pretty much a road these days. That's a little sad as it takes a bit of the adventure out of the experience. Would like to see a concerted effort to preserve some roads without the need to asphalt everything.

Still a fair bit of gravel and dirt to get your fix...the concrete on the steep climbs/descents makes life a bit easier, and I think the new bridge should be completed by now ??? - Stil fantastic scenery and sense of adventure though
