We have 4 small kids which poses 2 problems and 1 solution. The problems are 1. They need somewhere to swim/kayak when camping and 2. They cannot be as croc wise as an adult when playing near water.
The 1 solution is that we have plenty of bait to test any waters before we get in. (Kidding, we use the dog for that!)
So I'm hoping people out there can suggest some river side campsites where swimming is safe and croc free.

Simply abide by the signage and if in doubt don't swim, be sure, be safe.

I guess what I'm asking is are there any croc free swimming spots, ie spots that are upstream from large waterfalls, great distances from the estuaries etc. As it stands I don't see the attraction in "the cape" when you can't swim anywhere.
My kids (and I) are big swimmers and there is no way I will be able to relax while camping unless we are near a safe swimming spot because it fills hours in the day for the kids (therefore out of my hair) and has them proper worn out come bed time each night.
I should point out we don't have a problem swimming in areas of freshwater crocs, we have been doing that since we were kids.
Everyone swims at places like twin falls and fruit bat falls etc, why is it that they are safe? And are there other places like them?

Ah ha! Now we are talking guys! Looking into those options as we speak. I had heard hurricane was no longer allowing camping, added to that they we out of water almost???Your right about no camping at Hurricane.

But right next door to Hurricane Station is Calmer (or Kalmer) Waters and they allow camping.
Ive been there and it is nice.

Hurricane Station are open for camping again. I camped there only a few weeks ago and there was plenty of water. The current managers have stipulated no hunting, and no hunting dogs. Call Rose on 07 40948234 to book.Thanks for the information.
I always enjoyed camping there so its nice to see I can again.
