Following years of criticism, Formula One has finally embraced a bit of equal opportunity objectification: at Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix, the 'grid girls' were replaced by 'grid boys'.
The usual motorsport sight of women in skin-tight outfits, holding umbrellas over drivers on the pre-race grid was nowhere to be seen. Instead, dudes in white polos and jeans held placards as drivers prepared for the start of the race.

Had visions of lots of Bruno's prancing around .... right just before I turned to another station .
-
I'm normally not a fan of the young German, but love his reaction to Grid Boys

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Yes, you're right... I should be reported... in fact I should be hauled in front of these poor objectified boys to beg forgiveness, and I should possibly be left there, banished from my exciting life of dishes and washing and school runs... ohhh the humanity...!

Well...some of you are.. Others, not so much ;-)

Did any of the "boys" get a champagne shower on the victory dias?
If not, why not?
-
Theres been a compromise on the grid girls/boys dilemma.
Bernie Ecclestone has decided on this as the look of F1

As a loooonnnng term F1 fanatic, I have to say that I found this thread title offensive.
Then I thought about it for a few minutes....
and the idea began to form..... Hes right!!!!
I cant begin to explain how distressing it is when I compare the spineless development series F1 has become. I loved the days of the 4 lap qualifying engine, ground effects and GEAR STICKS.
I hate KERS, auto gearboxes (oops sorry, semi auto). And whats this 'control' ecu crap?????? (and McLaren are the sole provider?? Fair?? bet it suits them better than anyone else!!!), fuel efficiency??? Is someone having a bloody lend of me???
Id like to see them specify a configuration, say v8, a size, 2.4 litre....then stuff off and let development take place..... green? its not a planet saving frickin exercise!!! Its (supposed to be) the pinnacle of motor sport f1.......perhaps this should be in the daily rant section......
>:( >:( >:( >:(

Have to agree with most of that Artie.....although they do need to restrict some things so the rich teams don't get too far ahead....maybe it's not working ??
I don't agree with KERS or push to pass or any other aid to overtake someone who hasn't got the same advantage..
If they want more passing, take some wings and downforce off them..
-
Get rid of all hybrid rubbish including KERS
get rid of DRS
Keep the smaller turbo engine capacity, give them as much fuel and boost that they can take on a control fuel
Add an inlet restrictor to keep the cost of technology down,
no fuel consumption limit and they can pit for fuel as many time as they want so they can play the hare and the tortoise if they want.
Keep a control tyre, go wider for more mechanical grip and let the teams decide their own tyre management strategies
Sorry but semi-automatics are here to stay as is carbon brakes
I want noise, flames, passing moves, flames
to sum up I want the spectacle again
-
I'm all for change too. I miss the Banshee shrill of the V10's and V8's. Bring back the pre 1986 engine regs. Up to 1.5L for turbo and supercharged and up to 3L for aspirated. Get rid of fuel restrictions like fuel flow regulators and bring back pitstops.
While the out lap, flying lap and in lap hand grenade qualifying engines were cool. At least 1 engine per round (3 prac, qual & race) is better than the 5 race farce.
For those that want to see fuel economy and energy recovery go and watch the Le Man 24 hours. The technology in the prototypes is lightyears ahead of F1 and works brilliant in an endurance race. F1's are sprinters and should be the fastest on the planet, with the current farce. The 6 fastest GP2 cars are quicker than the slowest F1 cars!
Big rear tyres and basic wings too. Get rid of the ad on do dads winglets that fall off every race and cut tyres!
