Hi All
Great forum - I've learnt a lot lurking the last few months ;D
My wife and I have always planned to get a camper trailer. House renos, having kids, moving for work etc. have got in the way though.
With the kids a bit older (5 and 3yo), and renos complete we've decided it's time!
I think we've narrowed our plan down to getting a Jayco (Swan or Dove Outback) now, then switching to a Camprite in ~2y when I get my long service leave and plan to take a long trip off the beaten track. The Camprite is my favourite (such an excellent design) but while the kids are younger and we're mostly doing short weekenders away to parks etc. my wife would prefer the interior space, cooking facilities, comfort etc. you get with a Jayco. I've read all the reviews saying Jayco build quality is not fantastic but I've looked at a few and concluded that the lower build quality aspects are generally 'topside' components that I'm capable of fixing myself (cupboards, sealing etc.).
Keen to get some feedback on my plan?!
I have a specific question about covers as well which I'll post under a more meaningful heading!
Cheers!

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
Yes you are right - its a great forum - full of many friendly and helpful enthusiasts...
Just one thought about the upgrade from the Swan to the camprite in a couple of years...
I understand why you want to do this - but its a pity you cant get the camprite now - as doing a changeover in short shift will increase your costs... (Maybe loosing a bit on the changeover; etc).
However - you will also settle the wifey in nicely with the Swan
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome all. Yeah good point BaseCamp - appreciate its not the most cost effective way of approaching it but at least it's a camper trailer not a car - they don't seem to depreciate much...
And as they say - happy wife, happy life!
