Title: Are hard floors/vans over-priced compared to other quality 'mobile accommodation

This is a LOT of mobile home for $80,000 ... and no 'tug' required!   :cup:

I was thinking of a trip to Lake Eyre sometime. This might fit the bill.

I was thinking it would be an ideal specialist 'lap' rig...
* 'Big Island'
* Tassie
* EnZud
* PNG

But seriously, since seeing a full keel ketch advertised in the window of the local ships chandlers, they are seriously less expensive than I imagined.

Yeah, but bear in mind the running costs; you could easily be down $40k for a set of mediocre cruising sails, round here my yacht club would hit you for nearly $15K PA to moor it and the costs go on.....

By the look of that advert she may need a bit of work done and is certainly a high displacement low speed hull, great for bad weather, but a very old design and you won't be getting anywhere fast.....

For a certain buyer it she is probably not a bad boat, but to compare her to other forms of camping you really have to look at the full cost base as a 37 year old 40' motorhome would be worth even less and have lower running costs.....
