Title: Looking for Book Title

Hi All,
Long shot but I am looking for the title of a novel I read in the mid to late '90's. Now I can't remember if it is fiction or real life but it is in the UK and the story goes along the lines of a man was assaulted and left for dead in the woods (his partner may have also been assaulted but died) and regains conciseness or is found in a badger hole. He then goes on to seek revenge for his experience.

Does anyone recognise this story line and might be able to offer the title of the book. Thanks.

Yeah its called "Trents last new years eve" cept the only thing dead the next day was brain cells
