Title: Warbirds 2015 Temora
Post by: Redcherokee on April 29, 2015, 09:15:32 PM
Ticket sales open next Tuesday for Temora Warbirds, held 20th and 21st November.

The 2013 show was brilliant.  All sorts of old, and not so old, war planes flying at close range.  Something to look at all day. Birds in the air, landing and then taxiing into the main visitor area so they can open up for viewing (or pretending you are a gunner).  Camping in the 'overflow' was incredible, just metres away from the planes arriving for the show, or leaving afterwards.  Including an FA18 going over head so close you could almost touch it.  About a gazillion photos taken, but I really need a new lens.

We will be buying tickets on Tuesday. Only discussion in our house is if we should pay for tickets to one of the covered areas.  It gets hot out there in the sun all day.   Will turn up no later than Thursday, but maybe earlier.

Would love to see any other swaggers who feel the need.

Bring earplugs.

sounds like the Amberley airshow we went to in 2008.... we were standing not far at all off of the runway that had F 1-11's and FA18's etc etc taking off and landing on it. I was really surprised at how close they allowed us to be to the runway for that show, it was  8) 8) 8) Pic below gives you some idea how close we were (not the best pic, just to show closeness though).....

Looks like a nice line up.

You always see great pics come out of that air show. Such a diverse mix of aircraft.

The map for camping for this year makes it look like they have moved it across the road a few metres further away.  But that would be dumb, as folk like me would clog the road.

A recce is in order.  >:D

Yeah.  In fact even if you have the higher level tickets you will spend a lot of the day in the general area as that is where you get up close with some of the planes.  The main reason for considering the extra money is for better access to shade. General admission had no shade except for inside the main museum bit or under the wings of the big Constellation.

You are welcome to throw the swag under our awning if the family doesn't want to come.

Have confirmed that the overflow camping area has changed.  The really cool spot has been sold for housing, so they will be opening up a paddock across the road instead.  Still close, just not quite as good a view from the campsite.    We might try and snag a powered site instead.

Moving the Catalina into place for viewing.  The crowd just didn't want to move!

This is part of the 'Spitfire' camping area last time, pretty close to the action.
