I know that conventional chainsaws generally are more powerful than cordless ones but just for cutting a bit of firewood for the camp fire or trimming trees at home I was thinking of selling my "stihl 009" and getting I of these.
So which 1 would you buy and why ???

Have both.
Battery operated are awesome around campfire.. but then so is an axe, or burning the wood through :p
picked up Cd yet?

Would probably go with the first one, should have a bit more power and specifies a charging time, it may chew a bit of you battery supply when charging. Let me know when you sell the Stihl, may be interested in it Keith

Don't know much about any of them, but do any of them come with a battery that can be used for other tools? The ryobi probably does, no idea about the others. I've found the ryobi one 18v range good enough for my small yard work, the 36v would probably be even better for whipper snipper, hedge trimmer etc too.

Go the Ryobi with the new 5ah battery. have done some homework on these.
I'm getting one before my next outing, I'm also after no noise, maybe 8 or 10 cuts a day.
No fuel to mix etc.

The only good things about ozito witch I have a couple of things of is you can punish the crap out of it and it's no questions asked replacement.that and it's cheap.
Thier petrol chainsaw, the small one always starts first pop even after sitting a year so I'd imagine the cordless isn't bad mechanical. I've had nothing to do with thier batteries though..that could be a differnt story but ozito's straight replacement, ryobi isn't they get repaired and they would ask more questions

Sold by the Green Shed with branches all over Oz, no questions asked there. That was part of the decision process for me.

Yea not always so mate.
I changed all my hitachi cordless gear to AEG when the batteries died and bunnings has nothing to do with the warranty , same with ryobi.
It goes through the distributor and then thier service agent.
I just had my cordless grinder Shit itself and to be fair no real issue with the repair but I was without it almost a month where as ozito would have been straight replacement

I've got the ryobi 18v and while its no speed demon, it goes great for cutting up campfire wood. That's with the older 2.4ah batteries so the new 5.0ah would be better again. The 54v masters one would be unreal I reckon.

The new Ryobi is 36v !

There are 2 different models, the 18v which takes batteries from the one plus range, are still available for about $110 from memory and the newer 36v models which are quite expensive and extra batteries cost $200 a pop.

I have a McCollugh (spelling?) corded from the 90s. The main gear is plastic and was $25 back then when it stripped. I'd want to know how much plastic was in the main drive components. Cool thread - I need battery operated for camping! That electric one was too big for my inverter I learned a few months ago.

And of course, for under ten bucks, you can buy a good bow saw. Quiet, quick enough for smaller timber, takes up no space, requires no fuel or recharging. Safe for women and children while you supervise with a beer.

I've got 1 of those but I haven't worked out where the battery goes yet :)

I would go the Ego!
It will have the most power and most powerful battery. They also have a great range of other rechargeable garden equipment that are all genuine alternative to petrol powered options. Warranty is quite good too.

The Ryobi 1+ system has a 12 volt charger, handy with the range of tools
