Not those type but we use velcro sticky dots on elcheapo reflective windscreen sunshades and attach to the windows on the out side, to shade the frige etc .

They work real well, my experience with them came about when my FIL bought a set for his wagon, they do what there designed to do, but IMO pretty expensive.

I had a go at making my own out of the reflective blinds which you place on the inside of your windscreen, I bought the stuff from supercrap, cut it all to size, and attached some small suction cups and worked prefect, prob not as efficient as the more expensive ones, but did the job..

I did exactly the same as Swanny about a month ago. I have been on 2 x camping trips, and I think even the el cheapo $6 shades cut to size do a pretty good job.

I used Velcro dots, but will be changing to suction caps.

For the Prado, I only needed 2 x shades and a packet of Velcro dots, so total cost is under $20, and from the outside, it looks pretty good.

The main thing is that it's functional, and the MOST IMPORTANT thing is that the beer stays cold!

Yep love my Solarscreens. I got a set 4 years ago and they are worth there weight in gold in summer. Makes about 10 degrees C difference to the inside temp.

If done from the B pillar back, it'd be like driving a panel van......haven't done that for a good few years.....

Do you have the complete set?

I would have thought they would do more than 10 degrees with a full set.. :(

The 120 windows pop out, so the window itself is holding it.

got some aircell stuff as well and cut it just a tad bigger than the window and am able to just push it in so it wedges in and it stays put in the rubber around the window in my 80 series anyay, might be bit different for a newer car.

Saw these guys at the Rosehill camping show last week http://www.stopum.com.au/ (http://www.stopum.com.au/)
Security mesh panel that locks in with existing windows.
Combined with window insulation should keep things pretty cool.

(No affiliation, just thought it looked like a neat idea)

We have the complete set and used them for 3 months solid. Anecdotally - we thought they made a significant difference but can't provide a figure.
However one bloke prior to the trip parked his car in the sun with a thermometer and no solar screens fitted - recorded maximum 60 degrees. Put it out next day with the Solarscreens on = recorded maximum around 40 degrees.

Bunnings have a few products similar to that, but not $400 a roll ;)

I am using velcro and those window blinds cut to size. Works perfectly. They have been on the windows now for 2 years.

now to cut them to size...

Make a cardboard template first, double check it works on both windows, trace template on material, cut out, repeat...
