Title: first time camper
Post by: RowdyNome on April 09, 2015, 10:45:45 PM
hi all. my wife and I(yep, nomes and rowdy!) have recently bought our 1st camper, a Mars Vanguard hardfloor. its our way of starting to tour around, as we have a small budget and only a Captiva 5 fwd to tow it!
last year we towed a rented Jayco Eagle to Emerald in Qld and back home to Mulwala NSW. the Eagle was right on the limit of what we could comfortably tow as the Capi is only a 2.4 4cyl manual.
so we searched and read and googled and went to afew shows, and decided to go for a hardfloor for the ease of setup, and the weight.
weve had it out over easter on a mates farm and couldn't be happier.
ive got afew small mods planned already, namely a battery in the toolbox with a charger, so I can run a fridge(that we havnt got yet...any recommendations?), ciggi plugs inside, and LED lighting inside aswell. oh and an Anderson plug on the car!!

cheers
Kris

G'day and welcome guys.
Do you have any pics of your setup? Sounds good :cup:
The electrical thread on here is an excellent place to research your 12v mods and fridge choice, but just be careful  ;D ;D

ive also pulled the A frame-mounted brake controller  aswell. what a POS!. already had a Tekonsha P3 in the car, so a quick, but proper, rewire...and all is good!
I try for some pics in the next few days.
cheers
Kris
