Title: LOST DOG: Sussex Inlet FOUND
Post by: gclan on April 06, 2015, 09:08:26 AM
Our precious pooch Roxie snapped her collar and ran away last night during fireworks. We would greatly appreciate if anyone is in the Sussex Inlet area or knows someone here, could they please keep an eye out for her. She's an Hungarian Vizsla (Sorry I can't attach photos ATM. She's like a smaller weimeraner only a red/brown colour). She has no collar, but is microchipped. She loves people but is shy around dogs.
If found, please call Jamie on 0410 331 001
We are staying at the Alamein Caravan Park in Sussex Inlet.

Thanks very much
Karen

Hope Roxie is found soon . Roxie might try to retrace her steps to find you so stay as long as you can . A dog l know moved to another town & got frightened by thunder & bolted . The next few days we had no idea where to look , kept calling out & driving around then out of the bush , 1 lost dog came back .

Still no sign of her. We've listed her with everyone from council to RSPCA to vets and police and put posters everywhere. Can possibly stay an extra week incase she comes back.
Hoping the phone rings soon :-)

I go to the harbour foreshore or somewhere else similar if I wish to go see fireworks when they are advertised and I ensure my dog will be safe and secure at home. I go camping to relax and sit around a fire with my dog and don't expect unannounced to see a pyrotechnics display when camping put on by some inconsiderate camper.
Have just returned from camping at Windemere Dam were some camper decided that a fireworks display would be nice scaring the Shit out of my dog and others as well as a nearby baby and toddler. This happen 2 nights in a row from 2 different camps and at 2 different times, unannounced and not really needed.

Council advertised and arranged ones are a touch different to some flog at a campsite wouldn't you say?

and as long as you and your dog are happy **** the rest.

YMMV.

Drive a K back to towards your start point
Repeat exercise

FOUND! The thunder and lightning scared her out of the bush and someone spotted her on a dirt track. She was in an area of thick bush  we had checked several times already. Just very thankful. She's been dried off and is curled up in bed asleep with my daughter.
We had to drop our son off at the airport in Sydney and had left Roxie with the friends we were camping with. The fireworks were unexpected but not much you can do about that. Our friends felt terrible but it was nobody's fault. At least it ended well.

Thanks for the support guys.

Glad to hear. We have a dog that is frightened in storms and came home last night to find her tied to a tree in our front yard. She must have escaped from the dog run and a passer by has grabbed her and tied her up. The dog run is made out of temporary fence panels and a wire mesh cage and she has somehow climbed out of that! So this weekend's job will be to weld on some brackets and run some hot wire around to try and stop her from climbing  :'(

Friend I was camping with over Easter had her dog run away. First she knew was a phone call and text from strangers saying they had picked up Bobbi.  My friend arranged for family to pick the dog up from the finders and return it home ( where there were sensible care arrangements in place).

The lesson is to make sure your phone number is on a tag on the dogs collar.  You never know when it will be needed.

Glad to hear Roxie is also back with family.
