Sorry mate, my bad!!!

Surely this ute will be weapon of choice in some of the oil countries, doesn't Benz come with bullet proof panels and windows option??  >:D

What this may do is force some of the current twin cab manufacturers to look at the "creature comforts" in their models and standardise some of these "extras". Might force Toyota to offer air conditioning as standard!! What it will probably do (more likely) is make builders who buy them to put up their prices!!

I've driven Mercedes cars, vans, trucks, and even a Mercedes tractor. I reckon it'll do the job quite well.

Their cars are the taxi of choice around the world, after all

It only gets worse.  Surely Mercedes can not be serious?

NISSAN WILL BUILD the Mercedes-Benz Pickup (ute) with the all-new Nissan Navara serving as the base of the vehicle.  “The Mercedes-Benz pickup will share some of the architecture with the all-new Nissan NP300 but it will be engineered and designed by Daimler to meet the specific needs of its customers. The vehicle will have all of Mercedes Benz’ distinctive characteristics and features,” Renault-Nissan and Daimler AG said in a joint statement.

Actually makes sense. MB can use Nissan's expertise, and build a ute without having to re-tool or build a new factory at  great expensive. My guess it'll be similar to the BT50/Ranger platform but with a few more differences eg it might just share a common chassis but different running gear etc

Though the merc common rail diesels seemed to be having as much issue as the other manufacturers

Add $30k for the badges?

Scarps would reckon "we don't need no stinking badges"!!

I was actually going to say good on MB for picking the Navara as a base. Given the parent company business tied, it could have been much different, could have been based on a Jeep Wrangler.

Maybe we could design and build the Mysawg ute, complete with rated tow points, 6 b&s wiring, Dc DC charger etc. etc. !!

Now wouldn't that be a great conversation to have at the next gathering. The design would have to be based on the Great Wall, with a Detroit series 60 engine and 13sp Ultrashift transmission. Mickey Thompson tyres as standard. Hendrickson suspension and Detroit lockers. PTO hydraulic pump to run the crane.....

Hang on, this sound like one of our work trucks.......

Still, I reckon I could easily design something that would price itself out of the market!!!

Ok then, if it's a quality build, it must be a Dmax Chasis;D

Your words not mine  ;D

Whilst I am glad you recoginise the superiority of the mighty Isuzu, I doubt the Dmax chassis is anything special.  Amazing motor though.

But I'm presuming Mercedes will use their own motor so any old Datsun or Jeep chassis would probably be good enough  ;D

The pathfinder was always a re badged Renault trying to look like a navara. You just have to get inside one and it screams Renault ...ask me how I know, my mother's owned nothing but renal ts for mor years than I can remember.
Great motors and suspension geometry but they are sadly like rover...good on paper but assembled by people that don't give a Shit about build quality
