As in the title, I don't want to know where you are going, but what will you be doing.
What makes going camping at Easter special for you and your family/mates.
We'll be heading to a river bank somewhere close by(within an hour & a half's drive), setting up for about three days(could only be two nights, work hasn't come forward yet with opening times :( ), with friends, a camp fire, swimming, maybe a little 4wd trip thrown in, but not essential. Love being under the stars and staring at the heavens, watching shooting stars, comets and planes with the kids, having the kids point out these and being excited when they want to show you what they have found.
We love getting away and spending some time kicking back in our backyard The Clarence valley.
Love watching the kids(All ages, from near 17 to 18 months) interact and share some outside time together, And having a laugh.
To us, this is what camping is about.
What do you hang out for the most when you go camping?
Is it the location, is it the company you camp with, is it just the fact that you get away from the day to day grind work ya butt off and you want some family time?
What makes your camping special, what makes you aim for your once a year, each school holidays or just for the weekend camping make you want to do it again?
Happy & Safe travels

l really don't care if you go or not , as long as " TEB " delivers to my camp site . Sadly l missed out when " The Jolly Fat Man " came to visit . Though l will be a bit tuffer on some Bucktoothed Vermin if it bypasses my camp .
Should this happen l will have to resort to  & if he arrives & delivers l shell have to resort to  .
Either way there will be a certain consumption of said beverage in camp . Around a camp fire with friends

Bit of trout fishing, kayaking down the river, the older kids running an easter egg hunt for the younger kids, Roast Night on the Saturday when everyone tries to outdo last years effort, plenty of laughs and story telling - this year marks 20 years of Easter camping with this group of friends!
-
A few things about camping with the family get us out as often as possible
- Camping, no matter how expensive or how far you have to go, is cheaper than vacation care for 2 kids. Crazy hey! 2 week road trip to cairns from brissy, atherton table lands, big 4 at cairns, and all the sites along the way is cheaper and way more enjoyable for all involved. And come in with all expenses included as being less $$$$$
- Forgetting about the house work until we return home. Amazing how sitting on the beach, or in the bush or ever a caravan park can allow you to relax and forget about all the work around the house that is waiting for you to return. No mowing the lawn, cleaning the house, etc etc. Its not going anywhere I keep telling the missus, you can get into as soon as we get home ;)
- Getting the kids away from the electronics and opening their eyes. Fishing, making fires, cooking, making their own fun
- That first beer after pulling up to the site, before, after, during setup
- Laying down on your own bed at home the first time after a long trip, ahh ;)
-
& no trip is long enough ffffffffffff :cup: :cup: :cup:

Easter Sunday will be day 30 (~5,500 km) on our epic journey North and back. We'll be packing up and moving on to our next adventure. We'll have sand in everything and will more than likely have been bogged at least once :)
It'll be the longest time in a while that the kids have been without a gadget, I can't wait. I can only guess that EB will find us, wherever we are.
Regards
-
Gday hairs,
I reckon you have summed up our easter trip to a tee.
For us, it about getting away from the city and chilling, swimming, campfire cooking and sharing a great location with some friends if they choose to come..
-
6 nights camping, with plenty of , a cracking fire, kids playing, riding, exploring. I've got some new recipes that I want to try out in the camp oven, the EB will definitely be hoping by. Easter Sunday we will have a traditional huge easter egg hunt for the kids. The best thing is that we'll be camping with my two best mates and their families so you can't ask for anymore than that. :cup:
-
Hey Hairs, good topic as I have just talked to my mate who was going to drag his boat from Perth to Wyndham for Barra fishing at Easter but with the monsoon troughs it is not looking good plus I did my sums and it will cost too much for me to get there and back so the fishing trip has been postponed, so i think I will be at Levuka for Easter, sit back relax, drive a few tracks, try not to damage my vehicle too much this year))
-
At this stage little, as between contracts, but hopefully something turns up soon and can line something up quickly.
-
As in the title,

For me firstly it is a game of I hope we can go.
'After that, I hope for somewhere not crowded.
Somewhere nice.
This easter, we're booked in, nice spot by a river in the bush with another family.
My measure of a great day camping is at 5:00 in the afternoons, the kids are wanting to chill on the beds, feed them quick and it is silence by 6:30.. :cup:
And I hope there are some nice folks around us.
-
Secretly trolling for Sturgeon from the balcony of our Rhine River cruise ship with my collapsible Shimano 6 piece, smuggled in my luggage rod, attempting to procure some roe to get some spondoolies to offset the spending of a certain " Loved One".
The B-I-L & I have also discussed the hiring of a tandem treadly & reversing the rear seat so, whilst riding the numerous paths they have in Europe which adjoin watercourses, the front person supplies power while the rear person faces backwards & can troll comfortably.
I wonder if my Qld or NSW fishing licenses cut it over there ;D
Is there such a thing as an "International Fishing Licence"?
Hope everyone has a good Easter where ever they are!
Steve
(Have been on Google Street View in a certain area of Amsterdam & have picked out "The One" ::) ::) ::))

Spending time with friends in the high country. A rodeo and a little la-di-da polo, anytime in the Omeo is great, even better up high in the mountains.
I am sure there will an Easter egg hunt or three, and one comes from a low flying helicopter. The kids get to explore and wear themselves out during the day. After they have gone to bed the parents all get to sit around the fire and catch up. That's the life. Living the dream

Thanks everyone for posting, I appreciate you replies.
This is what made the 2011 National Meet special for us, sharing time with like mined people.
Being able to help host the 2013 National just confirmed this, looking forward to this years National Meet just to catch up again with some awesome campers/travelers, many who I've only ever said G'day to online ;D
Oh, By the way, this isn't a plug for this years National Meet, ;D
It's the reason we joined the MySwag.
Sharing knowledge, helping others.
Love it, ;D
Keep you posts coming tho, love to hear how you camp and enjoy yourselves.

Hopefully we'll be heading to a river front property.... have some fires to sit around and enjoy the odd refreshing beverage at, do some quad bike riding at some stage, go for the odd drive which might involve 4wding or maybe not, and generally just relax and forget about the hustle and bustle of every day life.
-
Sound awesome Guys.

Going to a regular, organised, Jeep event. There will be camping, 4wding, campfires, stories, awards, avoiding the frogs in the loos, catching up with folk and having a few drinkies. At some point, my heart will be in my mouth. There will be shared exhilaration at friends (old or new) exceeding their previous limits. And some commiserations when things go wrong. Hopefully less of the latter and more of the former.
And mud. At this stage it looks like there will be lots and lots of mud. Gulp.
-
Most likely working....doing the fourby tracks in a work poo-troll for the weekend :police:
