Title: Hi from the Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
Post by: cruiser 91 on January 05, 2015, 07:54:49 AM
G'day all,

I had joined a month ago but this is my first post. I've read through heaps of post's already and found a ton of very useful information, many thanks!

I currently own a 80 Series (with a few mods and upgrades) and use it too, 4wding in the Flinders, remote fishing: Yalata, Salt Creek etc.

Recently purchased a 2002 Jayco Finch Outback with a few mods for a trip from Adelaide - Broome - Darwin - Alice - Adelaide, leaving 1st July 2015 for 5 weeks. Had a couple of short trips away already to get the feel of what I'm up for. Research for a year on what camper would suit us best and the finch was our choice. It was very hard to find something that had everything we wanted without gaining heaps of weight.

My 80 is about to go in for a few engine mods to gain a few more ponies and the Jayco is also going for a complete check over.

I hope to put up photos soon.

There is no doubt I'll will be posting questions in the near future and I hope I may be able to contribute to others as well.

So Happy New Year!

Cheers,
Steve

Welcome Steve, looking forward to seeing your pics especially of the 80s. What mods are you doing to it? Is it the petite or the 1HZ?
I hope the fires arn't giving you too much grief, see you around the forum.

Thanks for the welcome

The cruiser is a 1991 GXL and wait for it...........................................................................4L carby petrol  ;D

Almost everything has been replaced or is about to be, in the engine, diffs and driveline. The old girl is truly reliable, never had a issue since purchasing in 2012. She goes anywhere with the exception in deep water.

Purchased 2012 and not running the best

Jayco

Even after new extractors, 2.5" exhaust, electronic ignition, carby re-jetted.
To date she's riding on 360nm and not a whole lot of HP.
Engine work happening this month, cam, head shaved, forged pistons, valves, polish, new HD clutch. So should see a bit more bang for my buck.
ARB f & r diff locks was the best mod done so far.

Cheers

Welcome Steve,

There is a myswag SA get together happening on the Adelaide Cup long weekend at Goolwa. Just a stone throw from the Fleurieu. You are more than welcome to join us.

Welcome Steve,

I spent yesterday in McLaren Vale & Willunga for work. The Fleurieu is a great part of SA.

The Cruiser and Jayco look well setup.

Cheers, Pete.
