Title: Choofer
Post by: tc1 on December 24, 2014, 01:10:35 PM
Hi All,

Have been after one of these for a long time. Finally found someone who makes them locally in Canberra from old gas bottles. Best of all it will fit neatly into a "milk crate".

It cost me $90 which I consider money well spent. If you want the seller can be contacted at tnjz72@gmail.com

Not sure what freight/postage etc would be out of Canberra.

BTW. I have no affiliation with the seller.

Cheers Tony

Lightweight bush walking stoves (in the 1970s the small single burner 'Optimus' was king) fuelled by 'Shellite' / aka 'white spirit' were known as 'choofas'.  They pre-dated the nesting metho stoves (Trangia etc) but gave a greater amount of cooking time for a similar quantity of fuel.
