Summary thus far!

Key information

Eight children, aged between 18 months and 15 years, were found dead in a Cairns home
Police report seven are siblings and one child is a relative.
AAP has reported a 20-year-old brother of the seven children found the bodies but police are yet to publicly confirm that information.
The house is on Murray Street, Manoora – a suburb of Cairns.
Police were called to the property about 11.20am, responding to reports of a woman with serious injuries.
Police believe the 34-year-old woman, subsequently taken to hospital with stab wounds, is the mother of seven of the deceased children.
She is a stable condition, according to Queensland Health.
A second person is also in hospital but police have provided few details so far
There are no "formal suspects" at this stage, according to the most-recent update from police.
Police believe it is an isolated incident, which has shocked the country
Cairns residents are holding candlelight vigils tonight
The family is described as "close knit" and are members of the Torres Strait Islander community
Community leaders asked for the customs to be respected by not naming the family at this stage.

Would if i was home mate...........

My father in law and family lived about 10 houses up the road for about 30 yrs with his 2nd Mrs and her kids, his Mrs, Nana Ev as we called her, only passed away about 12months ago after suffering for many years with Parkinsons, relieved she passed before this happened in her street, as i reckon a tragedy such as this would have knocked her for six, and she wouldn't of deserved that.
So my thoughts are that Ev will be waiting to welcome those kids to her new neighborhood, she'll look after 'em......... like she did every kid that dropped by the old house, all were welcome, all got a feed, hug, clip over the ear, whatever was required.........

SWMBO took care of this yesterday Mate. She took an extra bunch of flowers for the people who could not  be here.
She met up with other teachers from the school she works at as they knew and taught some of the little ones.
She came home unhappy at the tons of reporters that were there shoving their f#*?@//* microphones and cameras in everyones face and asking the dumbest question, which took so much away from the moment.
She said it was a goodd thing I didnt go or they would have had footage of a reporter getting his microphone shoved up his nether regions.

Heard reports on the media today regarding the mother possibly being on ICE at the time this occurred....no idea if true or not but it's a nasty drug that one and would go some way to explaining her actions if that was the case.

I am sorry but what you have said is neither appropriate for this forum or for this tragedy.  You know nothing about this incident other than what has been sensationalised by the media.  You have no knowledge what that poor mother was suffering or any of the circumstances behind her actions.  No, her actions can never be forgiven but they can be explained.  Mental illness is just such a terrible disease which is not recognised nor treated in the majority of cases.  Let's just show our compassion and allow those with more knowledge than us to work their way through investigating this horror.
