Not sure if this belongs in the joke thread, but have a read of this.........

I wonder if some of these armchair experts believe their own BS.
This tread is a bit like looking at a solar eclipse......!

I bet it was being towed by a Jeep.
The massive power put out by Jeeps will do that in no time flat.
The torque will just stress ya balls until they're busted.
If ya wanna remain safe, buy a Patrol or a Cruiser...... No Ball Busting Will Happen Then. ;D

lol.....yep would've been a Jeep owner.
On a more serious note, it's a timely reminder to all. For several years now, I check my tow balls every 6months. Yes I have two, one for the boat and one for the CT. Always Scrubbing any road grime off, loosening then retightening. I actually think with all my years of learning you just can't be too careful in this area.
Those towers that just travel along thinking it'll be all right, BAM, one day you find the nut has come loose or that dreaded rusty cancer has set in.
In my books, the more attention you pay to this area, the longer you'll be on this earth.

I posted this somewhere else ?? a couple of years ago but sort of relevant to this topic.
The mounts holding the 90l water tank under the tray of the 'tilley needed some adjusting so, after a 200 klm boat tow, when I got home I had at look at them. After adjusting, I accidently hit the underside of the tow bar with a screw driver. The bar had rusted from the inside & nothing was visible externally as the paint was still covering any corrosion. I must say I felt a little lucky that day!

Thought in 5 pages someone would have mentioned not to use spring washers.
Spring washers increase the rate of nut loosening.
Someone with an account see if you can spark them up again... >:D

I am not using a towball.

Thinking about joining up just to get them going!
That's a corker.... Spring washers. Or maybe that the nylon in the nylock nut will actually effect the torque rate so you need to adjust your NM of your wrench, or add an extra 2" to your 5ft breaker bar on the end of the 15" shifter!
Retired engineers never die...... They just hang out on caravan forums!

Making mental note to myself. "Must not put spring washers on my nuts" ;D

Torque wrench. Thought it was the click in the elbow with a long breaker bar.
Spring washers. Use a double nut with locktite and a dob of weld.
Anti seize and stainless. Forget it. Rattle gun it so it binds up. To replace 9" grinder.
