Title: Australia Free
Post by: Oldandslow on December 04, 2014, 02:18:44 PM
I just got home from golf and my wife handed me a copy of a new travel guide called Free Australia that she bought direct from the writer at a shopping center in Port Macquarie.

The guide is quite large and contains information on free rest areas, free camp sites and free activities for the whole of Australia. It also has photographs, points of interest, dump points and  complete road atlas maps for the whole country.

The book is very easy to follow, the maps have places of interest and activities  numbered in red and camp sites and rest stops numbered in blue. It is a simple matter of following the map and looking up the relevant number to see what is there.

My wife paid $50 for the book and it is $55 on line. I wouldn't normally spend that much on a book but i'm glad my wife did, it will be a great reference guide when we travel.

If anyone likes to tour on the cheap, like me, I can highly recommend this book.

I actually quite like whats he's produced.. (Unfortunately can't download it). It's not so much about places to "stay" but also about places to "see". It's nothing something that Tripigy provides and i like the "you should go and see here". type thing..

I can say that Tripigy has the biggest online database (as confirmed by one of the largest caravan and motorhome/camping associations) but we don't cover "things to do"... Thats more a tripadvisor thing, but his book looks pretty cool.
