Unbelievable. I still can't believe it's happened. I'm wearing a helmet for the first time in my life this Saturday!! Thoughts go out to his family and also Sean Abbott.
-
3 days short of his 26th birthday, far to young to leave. Far too young for anyone.
Thoughts go out to the Hughes family.
And to Sean Abbott, stay strong. And please get some help if you need it.

I just received this from Cricket AU
PHILLIP HUGHES | A MESSAGE FROM JAMES SUTHERLAND
Dear D4D,
It is my sad duty to inform you that a matter of hours ago Southern Redbacks batsman, Phillip Hughes passed away as a result of the injury he sustained at the Sydney Cricket Ground earlier this week.
The word tragedy gets used far too often in sport but this freak accident is now a real-life tragedy. Just shy of his 26th birthday, Phillip has been taken from us far too young.
As a cricketer, Phillip was an incredibly talented and dearly loved member of the Australian, South Australian and Adelaide Strikers squads and a former NSW representative. He also played county cricket in England and IPL in India. Without doubt he was a rising star whose best cricket was still ahead of him.
As a cricket community we mourn his loss and extend our deepest sympathies to Phillip’s family, friends and team mates at this incredibly sad time, and of course to the Australian cricket family and the State Associations. We are thinking of you right now.
I’d like to thank you and the broader cricket community around the country for the wonderful show of support given to Phillip and his family. From social media to phone calls to our front desk, the support has been tremendous and I want to thank you on behalf of Australian cricket.
If you would like to pay your tribute to Phillip and his contribution to the game of cricket, you can do so here.
Phillip Joel Hughes played 26 Test matches for his country. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered.
Yours sincerely,
JAMES SUTHERLAND
Chief Executive Officer

I heard Ian Healy give an interview where he argued that people should refer to "the bowler" when discussing to this incident, instead of actually naming Sean Abbott. The reason being that he's going to struggle with this for the rest of his life anyway, and being reminded of it all the time won't make it any easier. I thought it was a good idea, so shall be doing it from now on.
Rest in Peace, Phillip Hughes.

I agree. Actually, I think they shouldn't mention anything. Time to just call it an accident. Personally, I'd like to see the photos and footage removed from everything including the internet and media. The Hughes and Abbot families have enough reminders they don't need to be seeing it anymore.

Yep agreed. It's just a horrific unexpected accident.

Now as sad as it is, can't the media give it a rest. Really the families don't need to be reminded every 1/2 hour.
And although it's nice the queen and prime minister and elton john give all nice tributes, people die in tradjic accidents every day. Where is the tributes for these guys? http://www.9news.com.au/world/2014/11/29/06/09/australian-tourists-die-in-tanker-crash (http://www.9news.com.au/world/2014/11/29/06/09/australian-tourists-die-in-tanker-crash)

I have been thinking the same. Especially when one news report I watched was about a young mother with two children who had just passed away from cancer and then hammered again about Phillip Hughes. It just seemed to lessen the importance of the mother’s death. And then all the talk about cancelling games etc. I am sure there are lots of us who have had friends and or work colleges die (and yes, even get killed at work) and you just get on with work. You have too. These test players are well paid. This is their job. We all know this was a terrible tragedy, but move on. Kevin
