Hi Guys,
Newbie to this forum - I'm usually found on a Mum Parenting forums :) I will hopefully will be able to trade tips about camping with kids.
My Hubby and I bought a (don't shoot me down) MDC Off-road Deluxe CT with the kids room in July last year, finding out we were pregnant with our 2nd later that month! haha So we haven't used it as much as we originally thought, but have still had some great holidays around FNQ in it.
We've really enjoyed having a camper and having an electrician husband has kept cost down.
We have run into some troubles though so came looking for some tips - and found this awesome forum!
If anyone can point me to some threads that could help with ideas to fix it would be awesome.
*Poles (inside and outside ones) all have a whiteish coating on them and don't slide nicely anymore and get stuck.
*1 Gas strut now no longer stays up. Bed too heavy to stay up one just 1 strut.
*Hand-pump in sink leaks like nothing else when trying to pump.

Extended Family holiday at Lake Tinaroo - first time we'd set up the 3rd annexe. I think next time we'll set it up on the other side the the bedroom.

I am not sure about the fixes, Perhaps with the struts it is worth seeing about getting the 2 replaces maybe they need to be stronger. Others I am sure will jump on with better tips but welcome to the forum and enjoy all there is with myswag

Poles. Buy an aerosol tin of silicon spray and a couple of green scouring pads and hopefully you already have some car polish at home. Give the poles a good scuff with the scouring pads and the garden hose. That should remove the white film buildup. Once the poles have been dried in the sun give them a good polish with your car polish. once they are polished, give them a liberal spray all over the smaller pole with the silicon spray, this will make it slide better than new.
Your gas struts should have the neutron number on the side. If not we will work it out here on the forum. Basically you need the length the strut opened. ebay is your friend, I recently bought a pair of bonnet struts for my Cruza from eBay, less than $30 delivered. It was going to cost me nearly $70 to buy them locally.

As Muzza as already advised Car polish and Silicon spray is your friend. We mainly do beach camping so after extended trips I always take the poles apart and hose both the in and outside.
As for the hand pump leaking that’s not unusual, but they are cheap and just buy a new one and replace it.

Thanks guys! The service team at MDC said 1100 Nuetons but yeah, Hubby can work out the length. I just thought struts should last longer than 15 months... Oh well
Great tips thanks Muzza - Will have to do this soon over the "wet/hot" season as there's no way I'm camping in a trailer for the next 3 months haha

Hi Tash and welcome to my swag with hubby being an electrician the 240v side of the trailer will be too easy, I use lanolin spray on my poles no drama as yet

I have an 11" NSP Coconut husk board. Quite wide and a good beginner one, mainly use it at the beach (no waves) and river. I chuck the dog on the front and head out :)
Do you have a SUP?

Just got myself an 8"1' Shotgun. Great for the points at Noosa. Not so good for paddling though.
If you get to the National Meet as Jeepers said it will be worth bringing it down. Rainbow / Double Island is perfect for them and there is a jetty to launch into the Bay at the campsite.
