How would the average Joe Blow be able to afford the fees on the Ferry? 8)
-
I think you'd need to take the long way around ;D ;D ;D
-
Bet the fee is two slabs of VB, each way.
"Come knocking with your elbows"
-
could bribe him with a "New Chair"... it may work...
;D
-
If you planned it properly, the first person would give him the chair..the second person the Slabs of VB...
Everyone from that point onwards would be free because he would be flat on his back on the chair. ;D ;D
-
More to the point, who in their right mind would get on this??!! Anyone who knows the bloke wouldn't trust something built and/or run by himself!
-
From the road name it looks like he used to have a punt too!
-
if it's on the internet, it must be true

I was lucky enough to be sitting next to him at the time. From what I remember, it was actually a bit of both...technically he was kind of "in the chair"

Enough of this frivolity - Here’s the real thing..
We crossed The Speewa Ferry a few weeks ago, and it didn’t cost a thing.

Here are some facts you’re all dying to know..
The Speewa Ferry and the Wymah Ferry, at the upstream end of Lake Hume, are the only two ferries across the Murray that don’t have names.
All twelve ferries that cross the Murray, downstream of Speewa in SA have bird names - a bird common in that particular area.
The Speewa Ferry is the smallest of all the Murray River ferries (two cars, a car and caravan, or one truck, limit).
I’m inclined to think the Speewa is the narrowest ferry crossing on The Murray - although the Purnong Ferry downstream in SA is quite narrow.
I believe the Speewa Ferry is the only ferry across The Murray that lifts the guide cables out of the water as it crosses the river, as you can see in this picture.

That was worth the read, wasn’t it?

great read, thnx, but c'mon, the currency to cross was green, yes?

A bit disappointing that a good story was completely ruined by the truth!!! >:D
But I have to admit, was interesting to see the actual photos. Also glad to see that its not ran by a certain speewavillian, reckon he could have been the first operator find himself lost after the 3 crossing for the day
-
Thank You Just Jim or Jim as we will refer to you :cup:
This only goes to show that not everything you read on the forum is true , or for that matter based on a small partical of truth . All you Naaaaa sayers out there have to lift your game 8)
-
Still reckon the VB Tinny ferry would be a better option .
-
& l had just started work last night on my next creation , an Aircraft carrier . lt was going to be my Xmas project
-
Only reason it didn't cost is Speewa offsider was on duty. No way would Speewa let you across without VB tax
