Title: Toyota 4Runner and Tundra
Post by: gumboot on November 10, 2014, 10:13:01 AM
I was at a 49'ers game last week in Santa Clara and Toyota had a couple of 4wds there on display.
Got speaking to the head of Toyota there about the 2015 Toyota 4runner.
The silver one had a specially designed factory 6 inch lift, which is legal and insurable in the US , running 35's and wheels, custom roof rack, lights and some interior and was less than $47K drive away brand new.....
No diesel option in the US, just the same engine as the FJ cruiser. Looked better in the flesh than in the photos. Some photos below

Also there was a new Toyota Tundra with a big lift and Mud terrains. It was one big pick up truck.
Look how high it is compared to the peoples heads in the photo below. The guy in the cap next to the mirror is about 6 foot tall...
Awesome amount of room inside.

I think you will see something similar here next year called the Toyota Fortuner

It is a wagon version of the Hilux i am lead to bekieve it is being brought out after the new Hilux update to compete with the MUX, Colarado 7 and the Upcoming Ford Everest

It will be interesting what it will do to prado sales

Nobody does marketing better  than Toyota. Expect a price rise for Prado with the new car priced where Prado is now. And because it will be most likely sourced from Thailand Toyota will make a motza.

There was a drive report on a queensland converted Tundra in the fairfax press a few weeks ago. Great for the caravan, boat  and horse float mob, no so good for a narrow bush track.

This big Ford pictured in Chobe National Park  in Botswana had Zambian registration.

The ramp over angle is probably not much better than the little wagon!
