My manager wants me pick a new computer for work. I would like to get a new convertible tablet, something that I can use both in the office and when I'm out training and doing inspections. I currently have a Fujitsu Lifebook convertible tablet that is not touch screen but has a stylus. It has been a great computer but is long in the tooth and slower than a 90 year old getting to the point..... Has anyone recently purchased something or can recommend something.
This computer must have/be:
Not Apple/Mac/I anything. IT department and I will not have it
Must be Windows
Needs to have Ethernet (docking station or port replicator is ok)
Would like the be able to plug in a data projector in out training rooms (adapter would be ok)
Needs to have a stylus
Toshiba used to make the exact thing I wanted but don't seem to make it anymore. Something like a Surface Pro 3 could do the job as long as I work would fork out for the dock. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it! Something like this.

Remember, no apples.... :D

Panasonic Toughbooks are bulletproof.. but expensive
we run DULLS at work and have all been bullet proof runnin win 7 64bit.. 5540's 8 gig ram etc

I have the Surface Pro 2 for work (with the dock when I'm in the office so I'm running 2 normal computer screens plus the surface as a notepad) and the more I use it the more I like it. I don't know if it meets all your technical reqs but it's a handy bit of machinery.
The only problem is you start looking like a bit of a wally when you try and use the 'touchscreen' on a normal laptop (but that could just be me)

Have a look at the Lenovo Yoga

I have a Surface Pro 2 at home and love it. It would probably do the job, but was wondering if there might have been something better. The Pro 3 has a bigger HD so leaning towards that.

I'd like to have a play with one of these. I wonder if the keyboard would be a problem in tablet mode?

I just convinced my manager to let me get a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (i7 / 8 GB / 512 GB)
Put a screen protector & folio case on it - damn thing is brilliant!
I have a Docking station for the office comming, and also brough VGA / HDMI cables, Type Cover keyboard & ethernet.
Is it as tough as Panasonic, not much out there is that strong.
Fast to start, took a few minutes to get used to Windows 8.1, but I'm getting there.
Be interestign when I start doign webinar demos off it - but that was partly what I brough it for.
