Hi All,
I'm looking to get the jerry cans off the roof to free up space for other gear, I cant afford to do the whole new rear bar thing with the swing away mount and I came across this on ebay.....
The only thing i'm worried about is putting too much weight on the spare wheel mount......
Any thoughts, advice or feedback would be appreciated.....

that's the main issue i see looking at that set up.....picking up one full jerry can is heavy enough, but 2 of them mounted to that location seems like an awful lot of weight to me and not something i'd personally do.

Given that most serious Defender, Jeep , Patrol & other makes do their best to upgrade their rear door wheel mounts, or replace with a frame to take a load off the door.
Do you really want to the adding an extra 40+ kg to the rear door?
Some cars don't even cope well when you put an LT rated tyre onto the rim.

Give it a miss is my suggestion.
Have a look around the net for a 2nd hand rear bar perhaps, they crop up from time to time.

Aside from the weight, are you sure that would be legal in Aus?

It's worse than just adding 40kg as it is further away from the mount and the back of the car than a normal jerry holder would be. So you get extra force on the mount, not to mention extra weight (effectively > 40kgs) on the rear suspension.

I can't see it being a good idea. One reason only WEIGHT
