Ok so have just moved in to new place. Has a smallish shed. About 6x6m.
Just some background - my wife reckons I hoard c rap. But I reckon I keep stuff that could one day be useful - and often it has! But what would she know right? :-*
Ummm, anyway, So the bloke before me here must have been the same, as he left a heap of crap (think screws, nails, clips, handles, fencing bits, taps etc etc) - all useful for acreage properties I reckon. Hence why I wasn't bothered that he left heaps of that stuff here.
I am having an OCD crisis right now. I'm unpacking my gear and trying to sort I it all out perfect. There must be 10 ice cream and other containers full of bits and bobs. See pic for half of it that's not in drawers already...
Question is - what do you guys do to store all the little bits that you feel you will likely need? In drawers, clear containers, labelled or otherwise, boxes? I want to have it all organised and easily identifiable so I know where to go to find it.
Any storage solutions you recommend? Thanks! Mike

Hi,
Zip lock babs are good for keeping stuff from becoming one homogeneous heap of junk in larger containers like drawers.

A good question which I can't answer. I have 2 sheds 100m apart & invariably, when I'm in one shed & need something it's in the other & vice versa. I had to buy a second compressor as lugging one between sheds got a bit willing once I hit 60. I have a collection of glass jars with all sorts of thingies in them as the glass makes it easier to indentify things however I'm the 1st to admit that I'm not the tidiest of shed keepers! :-\

I use these tote boxes in all different sizes.
I also use labelled clear lunch boxes with blue lids. They are 2$ for three lunch boxes at places like reject shop, GoLo, Crazy Clarks etc. they are all full of washers, bolts, mounts etc etc.
I use the wooden partitions for all of the power tools.

We eat "tinned" fruit in those plastic jars and I find they are good for storage - easy to stack, easy to label.

i also use them. very handy containers...
i have thought about screwing the lids to a piece of ply and mounting it somewhere...

Tote boxes - that's a great idea. Muzza, love your setup also! Those labelled lunch boxes are perfect .
I do have a collection of jars.
I am forming a plan now...

Take away plastic containers are what I've used. can buy them in bulk from markets dirt cheap, can see what's in them, hold a fair bit and stackable.

It's a bit over the top, but I spent over 15 years with all my tools and gear in tool/site boxes which lived onsite or in the back of the van/ute. When I was at home I could never find anything or it was at work, so when I got off the tools I was finally able to permanently set up all my gear in the workshop.
Amazing how many fixings you accumulate over the years! It's become a local Bunnings for a few mates.

save old jam jars.
build a rack - nail the lids to the rack facing down. screw the jars to the lids - instant storage for screws..

I had a shed once, nice big shed, could have parked about 8 cars in it with plenty of room to spare. It is now our house. So I built a smaller shed about one and half car spaces. The daughter got married. No I can't find a ******* thing and don't have a verandah to sit on and enjoy the view.
