the solar panel is a bit expensive compared to what you can get on eBay but that fridge is OK.  Pretty much identical to an Evacool model that is worth nearly twice as much.

Aldi will warranty the panels unlike EBay sellers. Might be worth the  extra $$$

Big advantage with Aldi is warranty, they'll take things back no questions, and they are just up the road, so less hassle to buy or return.

We bought the fridge. Looks pretty good but had a problem. Kept coming up with an error on the display and stopped running. Luckily we managed to get it swapped over. Will try the replacement one today.

sounds like not enough power to start the compressor.. how did you get on with the replacement?

Haven't had a chance to try it out yet.  Was out all day yesterday.

Will give it a go tonight after work.

Had plenty of power at the plug, 13.0v.

My brother in law picked up a fridge on Sat. I checked it out on Sunday and it kept the beer cold enough. Looks like a great bit of kit for the price.

I picked up the fridge and ran for an hour or so last night.

I was surprised by just how quite it runs.

These appear to be the same fridge as sold by Ironman, Jaycar and others for almost double.

Jaycar sell a cover for the fridge for $69.  Are these worth buying?

Cheers

The ARB covers are canvas and thus protect and insulate. The powertech/jaycar cover does not look to be canvas (to my eyes) so it may just be insulation only.

Tried the new fridge.  Same issue.  Seems to be a problem with my second battery although its showing 13v.  Might have an issue with dirty connections or something similar.

Anyway...I still returning the fridge.  It draws more power than my older Waeco CF-35.  (2.4 amps as opposed to 1.9 amps)  Also the Aldi fridge is far more sensitive to low voltage than the Waeco.

Unless anyone is interested in buying it from me...?

The jaycar cover is nylon fabric like a backpack. I bought it and it is in use right now. It would provide a reasonable amount of protection from bumps and add a little thermal insulation.  I do not know how this compares with the other covers.

The fridge has been running all weekend and I'm happy that the beer has been cold. Ran in the car on the way out and has been on 240v the rest of the time.
