I know these guys cop a flogging at times, but I can't fault the BCF store at South Tweed. Once again today they went way beyond the norm and helped me out greatly. I do realise I've spent heaps there over the years, even joked to one guy that I was funding his Super plan. And I do still miss the little local tackle shop, But even so, they have been awesome with their service to me. Just thought I'd post that as most times we as people are quick to bag and not so quick to praise.

yeah I have no issues with BCF. although I find they are like bunnings where they have most things, and count on the fact you are in the store and you will buy it instead of comparing prices elsewhere.
There is a price to convenience.
99% of the time tent world is cheaper than BCF in brissy. I usually go to the smaller shops if possible, but if I dont have time, I just get bcf to price match.
I can not fault them on service. Always helpful

We were there on Sunday and they were very helpful.
I'm not going to lie to you Marge.

They occasionally have good deals on clearance tables too. The other day I scored baskets for an Evakool 80 litre fridge for 10 bucks , down from 70 bucks. Also got 2 she-wee's , extension tubes ??? and containers for 10 bucks each LOL ( sister wanted one for a laugh with her camping buddies and one for the mrs which I know she'll probably never use ;D )

I’ve spent more than I want to admit at BCF over the years between camping and fishing, but I don’t believe they give good service. In saying that none of the big stores give service. These days I’m making a point a visiting our local independent camping shop or tent world as the prices are similar and their product knowledge is far superior.
But from a pure product range, you can’t beat BCF.

I'm a BCF member and my local store have gone out of their way to ensure I'm looked after too, even rang their sister store (Ray's Outdoors) to make sure I could get an item they were out of...

Convenience in one store, yes, but their prices are usually the most expensive in town. Even when they do have catalogue specials the prices of "specials" are usually only marginally cheaper than the RRP of most other stores.

I still haven't seen any store beat the price we paid for a Coleman Hot water system on special at anaconda a while back. Under $200 and they took a raincheck when they sold out. Fantastic bargain, but not repeated since.

My local bcf is okay but they usuall have lots of out of stocks. Since anaconda has openned I've noticed bcf have been more expensive on most things I've compared
-
I joined my local BCF for the specials they run from time to time it's cheaper yeah they are more expensive most of the time but they are only 15 minutes down the road where as a smaller shop is about double or triple that and for the few $ it's not worth my time or cutting my trip time short as for service even the little guys don't offer service much anymore and aren't will to do any deals even when you want to buy a lot of gear. I usually shop where it has what I am after at a reasonable price that doesn't dick me around and is straight forward about costs.

I use all of them in Brisbane ... Downunder camping, Tentworld, BCF, Anaconda.
Typically downunder and tentworld have the lowest "usual" price but often BCF and Anaconda have specials which make them comparable and occasionally cheaper.
I bought an expensive tent and fridge at tentworld recently and they were the cheapest I could find ... but they wouldn't budge on price much because they knew they were already the cheapest even though the total purchase was around $3k. Of course Anaconda will beat any advertised price but you have to go through the hassle (and they may not match/beat the price if one or both stores don't have stock). I prefer to support the guys that have the best advertised price, generally speaking, rather than force the big chains to pricematch.
Service wise I'd rate BCF and Tentworld best. Downunder is very hit and miss - mostly miss - and similar with Anaconda. BCF have the most stores and are definitely the most convenient for me.

Anaconda, at least in Perth, is woeful. I try my hardest to avoid them, even when they have a great price you can never find anything and you still have to negotiate with the checkout people because the computer is almost always not up to date.

I go there reasonably often. They are normally pretty good. I had an issue some time ago where they were very unhelpful, but the coleman sales rep soon sorted them out.
At the end of the day, it comes down to who is running the store, and the attitudes they accept
