One of my pet hates about camping, after a nice long drive and arriving at a pristine camping spot like Elliot Falls to enjoy the environment and relax, start setting up camp, to find the previous campers have acted like ****.
They have left their rubbish littering the site. The fire pit was full of aluminium and steel cans. People cans DONT burn. The worst was obviously some 'lady' has to 'go' right near the site and just chucked the toilet paper in the bush.
People take out what you take in.
Sorry for rant and I know these type people are in the minority and the majority of campers do the right thing but we really get annoyed by these peoples laziness.

Absolutely agree there Lobster 100%
-
Mate agree 100 %, unfortunately these types are all too common, we always end up taking more rubbish out than we take in.
Cheers,
Disco teddy.

my pet hate in glass too, i won't go to double island any more because of it.
a few years back my son and his mate were playing in the sand at camp on DI and in a 1 sq mtr did filled the back of a large toy dump truck
have not been back since

Unfortunately this is part of the reason that more places will be closed in the future.
Its not that hard to take your rubbish out with you.

It really is a shame, and in a lot of the places it guaranteed to be left by 4WDers as they are the only ones with access.
I don't understand the mentality of leaving rubbish behind; people are just feral pigs. Even on the major roads over here, workers are constantly driving up and down collecting the rubbish from the sides of the road. What gives people the right to throw rubbish out the window?

Yeah, it's a bit hard to blame ignorant day trippers for the rubbish and toilet paper on remote tracks like the Canning Stock Route

What I realy hate is you find a nice place to set up ... Then some mongrel comes along and is afraid of being alone in big open spaces and sets camp so close its almost right on top of you ....
-
We'll that supposed minority sure gets around and often from what I encounter. ????
-
Agree it's awful. We pulled in to a beaut little spot recently and drove past 2 or 3 nice campsites but with no-one around we thought we'd keep looking. Found a terrific little spot right on the river only to find half a dozen nappies, cans and just general rubbish strewn all over the place. Before we setup, we spent 10 minutes picking it all up and placing it in a bin which was, at most 150 metres away!! Lazy, disrespectful little buggers!
Imagine how they must live at home ???

Maybe we all need some official MySwag 'clean up your site' stickers on the backs of our rigs - give people the not so subtle hint?
-
Flashing neon signs and a 300Lb gorrilla wealding a lump of 4x2 still wouldnt stop most of the numb nuts from dumping the rubbish .. They just dont give a rats and its all about them and everyone else can just go Ferroscious Unauthorised Carnal Knowledge themselves ..

A mate and I camped at 8 mile camp on Dartmouth dam once. I think it was just after Australia Day and we had just missed the people before us because the fire was still smouldering and there was rubbish everywhere including a ring of tissues that must have been just been out of the light of the fire. We picked up two black garbage bags of empty bottles and cans - Pigs ! . The funny side to this was that they had also let fireworks off and there was a big fireworks " cake " that must have had twenty or so shots in it. Being cardboard , it went on the fire with the other paper rubbish and we started to set up camp. What we didn't know was there were unexploded shots left and next minute BANG , BANG ,BANG which scared the crap out of us. One came at us and we were hiding behind the edge of a tarp totally confused as to what was happening. We then noticed up the hill in two spots fires had started so we had to quickly grab a bucket and put the fires out , running through long grass in summer in bloody thongs too - yikes. We were just glad we had decided to set up and not just go fishing cause we would have heard the bangs and just thought someone was shooting while the bush caught fire. We still laugh about it now. - Raider

Jen and I got to Blencoe Falls Friday morning and headed to our favourite spot.
Looking down the road towards the spot we couldn't believe there was no one there ;D
We pulled in and no wonder there wasn't anyone there!!! There was toilet paper spread over the whole area. ??? ???. The morons had made a fire right in the middle of the campground and there was broken bottles and tins left in the still smouldering fire. After an hour and half we had it cleaned up and a full garbage bag of rubbish to take home when we leave. They even cut down green saplings to burn ???. It won't be long before this campground is closed because of morons like these.
