Title: Why???
Post by: sol on August 22, 2014, 07:13:36 AM
Last night we met up with our daughter in Ingham. She lives in Townsville and us in Tully. We had to drop some paperwork off to her. Anyway we went over to Maccas for a takeaway and went across the road and sat down at the table and chairs in the park. It was approx 630 pm and about 10 mins after we sat down along came a group of kids???? and started yelling F*** off white c**** this is our place.
I replied " hey guys there's another table over there" pointing to a table and chairs across from us. They then started saying the same filth over and over and saying f*****g slut to my daughter so we got up and went over to our car and drove across to the Maccas car park and finished our meal there.
I don't get it  ??? ??? Anyway if this is not an appropriate thread, mods please delete.

Ahh, yep just checked the date... IT WAS THEIR PAY DAY yesterday... obviously they were full of juice.

Wonder how brave they would have been if there were more of you?

That is absolutely shocking stuff but all too common unfortunately especially to say that to your daughter ??? That would have been real upsetting.
Mate I would have been wild.

Gidday Sol

What an extremely unpleasant experience for you all ... :( .

Recently, I stopped getting the newspaper delivered after about 30+ years and stopped watching the TV news because they were both so depressing and just made me feel angry. I know there are horrible things occurring all over the world all the time, I just refuse to pay a company nearly $40 p.m. to deliver it into my home, with a lot of their published material being factually incorrect as well. Don't start me on the editorials ...

The lesson/s I take from yours and my experiences is that one should never become like that - no matter what the provocation. It's not a solution, it inflames the problem.

While you should not have had to do it, I admire the way you handled it - just walk away (sometimes it is necessary to run ... ;) ! ).

Unfortunately it happens all the time in the north, sometimes you just have to stand your ground with them most of the time the adults are just full of wind but I am finding the kids seem to have no fear and will turn violent.

I am 145kgs and 6"4 and had 6 kids about 12 to 13 years old bail me up at night in a carpark one night calling me a White so and so, all the while they were pacing around me, then another car came into the carpark and they bolted..

Had the same happen to us at Gregory Downs in July. Some oxygen thieves tried to tell us it was their country and we had no right to camp there. Not a pleasant experience.

Hey Sol, get 'em some dingo outfits from a fancy dress place and drop 'em off at Fraser.

The rangers will take care of the rest.  ;D

The standards that are accepted by society in general today are constantly degrading. People just have no respect. Ferals.

You handled it well

I often get called the same. I work in the Cairns CBD and start around 7,00 am in the morning. Quite often I will pass one of the locals on his way home after a big night. They always ask the same thing, can you give me a smoke, can you give me some money. I always say no and then get called a white @@@@ for my trouble.

Regardless of colour, creed or anything else, we should all treat each other with dignity, courtesy and respect.
It's hard, some times ...

If you had, you would have been just as bad as they were ... :(

While no kid has ever scared me; half a dozen of them scare me witless ...
A bloke was kicked to death here a while ago by a gang of these teenage thugs ...

Unfortunately it happens all the time in the north, sometimes you just have to stand your ground with them most of the time the adults are just full of wind but I am finding the kids seem to have no fear and will turn violent.

I agree, sometimes one has to stand and fight; and I'm not 6'4" and weigh 76 kgs ... .
The last time this situation occurred with me was in the gent's at a pub in Adelaide in the late 1970s. It was in defence of someone who was being seriously harassed by a group of non-teenage thugs. They had a go at me, but it takes skill for multiple people to attack one person with some training, and they didn't have it. I had words with their "leader" later on (he wasn't with them at the time), and suggested that some friends from Sydney would pay them a visit if anything were to happen to me later on in the car park, for instance ... We got on quite amicably after that. He even bought me a beer ... ;) .

Since then, I have always "won" all the fights by several hundred metres ...

My best option these days is to fall to the ground and play dead ... ;)   ;D .

As father with 2 young kids its so bloody disappointing that we suffer still this type of behaviour....I was bought up in house hold with my father who was a very good father, but very racist, as a father now, I do my absolute best to ensure my children understand equality at all levels.

I to had a similar experience at Weipa, on our Cape trip, my kids were with me and being young weren't really aware of what was happening other then them yelling abuse our way, my Son who is 7 was quite scared with there actions, which happened outside of woollies.

They do themselves no favours TBH, I and I am sure many others do there best to educate there kids etc on our heritage, and the different cultures we have in Oz, of most importance the Aboriginal people, but they could do with learning themselves, and helping us help them.

I will say though a few bad eggs spoil it for others.

respect is a 2 way street, you give it to me and I'll give it back....it's that simple. These people who behave in a manner like they did don't even respect themselves let alone others.

In my opinion these young indigenous kids know they are untouchable, so they are growing up in a life with no rules. This is because our Governments have kept handing over money after money to them while at the same time taking more and more power away from the police.

I would like to see the Dole/Pension/handout of indigenous people living in dry communities increased and payments to the drunks decreased.

I was in Alice Springs a couple of years ago and it’s sad seeing people lined up for hours waiting for the bottle shop to open on pension day. Then that night it you hear the screams of them beating each other up in the creek bed.

Sad to think what our country is becoming.

The government needs to treat ALL Australians as equal. Then certain people might lose the 'chip on the shoulder'

Sucks but I think you made the right decision to just remove yourself and your family. Unfortunately it's not worth you or your family taking a beating (or worse) for.

... I am finding the kids seem to have no fear and will turn violent.

In my experience, I'd agree with this statement too.

I agree, but it reminds me of an old story about the feminist and the old bloke ...

The old bloke opens the door for the feminist to walk through.

She says with a bit of a snarl "You don't have to open the door for me because I'm a lady".

He replies "Madam, I'm not. I am opening it for you because I am a gentleman ... ".

IME, the less that people deserve to be treated with dignity, courtesy and respect, the more important it becomes for all of us to continue to do so.

It can only help to break the vicious cycle of hatred and bigotry that exists between some people ...

this sort of behavior really annoys me. I have been in similar situations with the kids in tow and it is an extremely uncomfortable situation to find yourself in.

If this was the other way around, and someone was filming the incident, you would be all over the news  / ACA being called racist and being contacted by the police for public nuisance or some other law being broken.

I do not condone this type of behavior in either direction, but sitting on the outside as most of us are, the laws only appear to apply to the white @@@@@

Sorry your kids had to see it.
No different at Lismore, I cop it all the time. I was called every filthy name under the sun one night. She went off more when I asked if she was racist... How dare I, she said, "you are the racist ##$#$. "

My wife grew up in Innisvale and Ingham and Ayr. This crap has been going on for eons. First ran into it at Alva Beach near Ayr 25 years ago when driving over the bridge, young bloke on a motor bike was playing chicken with every car that drove across the bridge and kicking your door as he went past. They just simply do not have any respect for anything or anyone.

What do you do? walk away is my best advice. Telling them what you think of them is quite often met with violence as was the case in Ayr many years ago with one particular family.

Yes, unfortunately this sort of thing happens too often in Townsville. There are certain suburbs where if you went for a walk at night, you would be bashed just for being reflective. You did the right thing by walking away though, especially with your family in your care. I don't care how big you are or how good you think you can fight, if you have a group attacking you, its all over (especially if they pull knives on you). Easiest to bite the tongue and walk.

I can't recall the family name, but the authorities moved the whole family south of Ayr, my wife would know, she lived there at the height of all the trouble the family was causing.

Why?

Because they have nothing to live for and have been told over and over again that they are owed and are victims.

I think that just about sums it up.

Very true, but the saddest part is that it's a generational thing. How do some of these out of control kids have any chance when they are beaten, abused, and treated like dogs by their own parents.

You often hear, "yeah they just need a good flogging". Why? They cop this every other day at home.
Not trying to justify the behaviour, just saying how hard it will be to break the cycle of hand-me-down abuse.

Very true indeed, but sad also, particularly given the change in white Australians attitude over recent years, well ill speak for myself so as not upset anyone, ive defo seen a large shift in attitude toward Aboriginals, and a positive one I mean.

I never had a bad attitude toward them, ive worked pretty close to number of Murray's over time, but have never been able to understand there attitude toward us......

I was in the underground Catholic church in Coober Pedy yesterday. Just admiring it and taking photos with my family when this ( lady) came in swearing and asking me if I took my photo. I didnt even see her coming let alone take her photo. She said good! Because it would cost me a milliom bucks as im a f***ing international model and I name my price.

She was just a white crack head! And boy she was ugly. But she was scary.
