I would love to be able to start planning for a 2015 Cape trip, and although it may be to soon for the regular crew of My Swaggers. With long service ready to take either way I have Northern expectations. but would love to experience and learn along side a bunch who contribute to making this forum one if not the best of its type. :cup:

Just read on another site ( Exploreoz ) that the written off vehicle count for the Old Telegraph Track this season is 39. Interesting ! Trying to find out specifics but some may assume they would be mostly drowned vehicles.

We were thinking a some 7 weeks with a bit of travel down the gulf side as well. Happy to tag along...
-
The Four Walls are pondering a trip and are thinking a Myswag adventure could be a great and safe way to start our touring.
-
Us 6. I am hoping for a trip in June for 4 weeks from Port Macquarie. We are doing it with the 4 kiddies age 7 through to 16. I need to do a lot of prep to my truck and might need to swap the camper for a full off roader. But I am keen as musted, planning this trip to celebrate my 40th birthday.
Cheers Matt
-
I will be up there for 8 weeks ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Are we going to the cape again Jetcrew ?????? ;D

So far looks like a June date. I was thinking August & probably thinking October was getting on the late side ,( to hot). Perhaps some firm dates should be thrown out there as a starting point? I'm pretty flexible, no kids just work dependent, but with enough forward planning should be good chance
Maverick, perhaps post up your proposed itinerary, that might get some juices flowing
-
I'm jealous of the lot of you >:D ;D
Happy planning
-
Im thinking that we will leave on or around the 21st of June, plan is the Cape and Gulf but is dependent on mate from Queensland.
-
I'm thinking about leaving port Macquarie about the 23rd.
-
For those people that asked me for my Cape York itinerary. I haven't forgotten.
I just realised it's on my old computer and I will get it this weekend.
So for those that wanted it could you please remind me who you were again
-
Me !
-
I'd be interested in a peak at it mav. Cheers mate
-
I would love a look also.
Thanks
-
I will get to it over the weekend. The itinerary is about 50 odd pages long
-
Can everyone who wants a copy please PM me with your email address
-
I thought I would let everyone know that I still haven't forgotten about all of you.
It's just at the moment our computer has managed to get a virus and it won't allow me to get into the internet. Therefor I can't send everyone the itinerary. I do apologise for the inconvenience

No inconvenience for me there mate, but I bet it's annoying for you
-
It's annoying the crap out of me mate.
I'm resorting back to using the phone and logging on from that but I need to check emails and send everyone the itinerary but can't until the computer is up and running
-

50 pages !!!!!!!!!!
How long are you planning on being up there. Or are you just anal with the itinerary
Don't have a condensed version you could post?
-
Moggy,
Just letting you know there is no short version. This isn't like any other itinerary as this 1 gives detailed information on fuel stops, history, things to look for, safety awareness and other things.
-
Mate I would like to see it also, if thats ok.

Mate I admire the effort. If you're happy to share I'd be interested in having s look.
I showed my swmbo the video that mcgirr posted the other day & she has given permission for me to go without her, (she's a bit precious my bride
) so I'm keen to plan for next year & perhaps join up/ tag along with some other swaggers.
my mail is moggy@smartseal.com.au .

We are a possibility if we can get a few mods done to the Pathy before then.
-
Is anybody prepared to throw some dates out there ???
-
At this stage we will be there.
P.S. I am still waiting to get the computer fixed so I can email everyone this itinerary. I could post it but would cost far too much to get 10 copies printed off at 52 pages for each itinerary

Hi All,
I’m in the planning stage for my 2015 Cape Trip; most days will be unpowered bush /camp ground camping with the exception of Seisia.
Any one is welcome to join us at any stage or simply join us at Archer Creek on the 11th June It’s not a catered affair so everyone is expected to chip in and help out. You will need to be self-sufficient and carter for your own needs.
I’m travelling with a well setup Mazda BT-50 with no camper, rest assured I’m no cowboy; my preference is to arrive at the final destination (home) safe and well.
This will be my fifth trip to the Cape, two of them with McGirr 2014 and 2012, two self-guided and one other riding along as passenger
Dates: Planned departure Wednesday 11th June 2015 to Monday 21nd June. Leaving Townsville 10 days before the Qld School holidays. This should allow us enough time to stay in front of the crowds. Roads should be in good condition, the camping and swimming areas should be free from large numbers
Rough Itinerary (subject to change)
Wed 10th Townsville to Laura via Palmerstone Highway and inland route
Thu 11th Laura to Archer River Roadhouse.
Fri 12th Archer River Roadhouse to Bramwell Junction then onto the Dulhunty River.
Today we tackle the start of the OTL after departing Bramwell Junction, We will look at Palm Creek crossing our first major crossing we may cross it or take the bypass road via the Heathland Ranger Station and back track down to the camp area on the Dulhunty River
Sat 13th Dulhunty River. Enjoy a day relaxing in the clear waters of the Dulhunty River.
Sun 14th Dulhunty River to Eliot Falls.
Mon 15th Relax, swim in the crystal clear waters of Elliot falls and explore the surrounding area.
Tue 16th Eliot Falls to Jardine River via the Northern OTL we will bypass Nolan’s Brook and exit the OTL just before Mistake Creek. We cross the Jardine river by barge than continue on to Seisia, set up camp at van park (power, hot showers and laundry available) At Seisia we can explore the area , fish and watch the stunning sunsets over the Gulf.
Wed 17th Day trip to the “Tip of Cape York” then onto Summerset for a look see
Thu 18th Day trip to Thursday Island / Horn Island or just relax at the camp site
Fri 19th Head back south towards Home stopping at Musgrave station.
Sat 20th Musgrave Station via Lakefield National Park and on to the Loins den camp overnight
I will revise the Lakefield journey when arriving at Musgrave. If the park is closed we will drive on down to Lakeland downs then take to inland road back towards Cooktown
Sun 21st Loins den to Townsville via the Bloomfield track, arrive back in Townsville late Sunday evening
Mon 22nd Unpack and clean-up
-
Well anyone else going to be there with the crowds like us?? We are there with our tribe leaving cairns around 25th of June at this stage. Looking forward to it.

Haven't been on the forum for a while, got crook last year after our return from the cape, our trip last year was so good that we said we wouldn't mind going back again, so we have now packed up and are leaving Tuesday 26 th going north to Innisafail then up through Atherton, we expect to base camp at Punsand Bay, last year we camped at Seisia which was a great place to stay, will be home by the end of June.
We drive a white Terracan with two tubes and a solar panel on top, would be good to catch up with any swaggers along the track.
Regards Woody.

Is channel 40 the place to be ??.....UHF ??? ???

Yes. Roadworks ( a lot of time they don't have stop & go they just let you know you can proceed) and all trucks are on it and that way you know what is going on. But if by chance you want to gossip to a mate then at least use another channel for such time.
Dan.

Hope everyone has fun at the cape. We are in Cairns at present and were leaving this Saturday but after a visit to the Doctor today looks like our trip is off. :'( My wife has injured her hip joint and she is in a bad way, so another year it will have to be. Just need her to get better now. She has been in so much pain. So back home we will go. Kevin
