Hi There, Does anybody know if the upgrade works at Nanga Mill in Dwellingup have been completed, i was going to head there this weekend and i find that Nanga has the most room for bigger CT' s like mine, just don't want to get there and not find a spot. Thanks in advance.

Check out the DEC website. I fear the opposite has happened from the looks of the maps I checked out a few weeks ago. :'(
-
We were down there at the start of last month and it looked like they still had a fair bit of work to do.
There was still heaps of room for C/Ts and it's a great spot.
You could try contacting DPaW, otherwise you'd just have to take a chance and hope there's a free spot when you turn up.
-
I think work is ongoing until December. Other areas are open though. You should be able to get into the Marrinup POW site. Turn off is just before Dwelly.

In case you were thinking about heading out to Dwellingup - here are a few updates:
Fawcett 4WD track in Lane Poole Reserve closed
From DPAW: "The Department of Parks and Wildlife wishes to advise that the Fawcett 4WD track in Lane Poole Reserve is closed due to seasonal conditions. The condition of the track has deteriorated due to the winter weather conditions and has been closed due to concerns for visitor safety. For more information, please contact the Parks and Wildlife office in Dwellingup on(08) 9538 1078."
Photo below is the track when we were there last month (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=32574.msg608420#msg608420). There's been lots of rain since then so one can only imagine...

Nanga Campground at Lane Poole Reseerve
From DPAW: "Within the magnificent Lane Poole Reserve, work is continuing at Nanga campground on the development of up to 41 new camp sites, including 29 purpose-built caravan bays. This is expected to be completed in October."
I am really hoping that this photo below (from DPAW, current works underway) ...

is not the latest pic of this area, that we have enjoyed in the past (http://teamstozz.com/2012/05/29/nanga-mill-and-capt-fawcett/). It's a big place so hopefully their clearing has been done somewhere new...?

Stozz... That cleared area is down by the stream on the left hand side when you enter from the second gate. Not impressed!
-
It's a massive area. Used to be surrounded by trees if we are thinking about the same place.
If people want cleared flat slabs, go to a friggin caravan park.
So sad (and mad!)

Agree completely.
If that is the stream where we did camp a few years back with MySwag WA people, then it is a shame.

That's the one Willsurf... Horrible waste!
I don't disagree with some slight levelling and maybe hardcore roads to clearly idedify areas but they have torn the guts out of this place just so people can get in with there 35ft 5th wheelers!

Welcome to the modern world..

This is the first I have learnt of this.. I was down that way last weekend at Waroona Dam.
If you do head down to Lane Poole and you cant get a spot, its only 20 or so k's to Waroona Dam, they have the 'lake camping' area which is not too dissimilar to lane poole.

They are 'upgrading' Logue Brook Dam also, and so perhaps Waroona Dam is next on the list ...

Stayed at Baden Powell last weekend. Not bad, but the Captain Fawcett Track is much better, and its free camping. That, or we love Brunswick :D

Or Harvey.

As far as I understand it, Waroona (lake Navarino) is leased and privately managed... so hopefully not
-
Surveyors pegs at Potters Gorge (Wellington Dam) when we were there a couple of weeks ago, so looks like that is on the list too. I did hear a rumour that they were going to make it bigger so will be interesting to see what happens. The upgrade that they did at Martins Tank Lake is not too bad, where previously there were no sites suitable for camp trailers, now there are 7 new ones.
-
There are a few nice tracks around Lake Navarino and the creek is interesting in winter as well.
It took us 4 hours to go from the camp site to the other side of the lake to the hill climb.
-
Pretty sure you aren't allowed to camp in Harvey. Not that this stops anyone from doing it

Agree. Had a look at what was going on about 6 months ago. Real poor that they just bulldoze a 50 acre site clear of everything. The place was once a nice spot.
Hoffmans for me

Thanks for the update guys, we ending up going to Lake Brockman instead, had a great weekend even though we were in the CP, looks like the DEC are doing up an area for camping, looks pretty good, dropped into Nanga Mill on the way home and was gutted to see how much area was cleared and still looked a while off being completed, probably will head that way for Fathers Day weekend, fingers crossed it'll be finished.
