Just wondering if the laws have changed in regards to other states being able to disqualify or take away demerit from a different state of your license.
I know they can fine you but can they now take points or your license?

Hope this helps
NSW DRIVERS WHO DRIVE IN ANOTHER STATE
The RTA in NSW exchanges details of offences with other States and Territories.
This means that if a driver breaks a traffic law while they are driving in, say,
Victoria, details will be sent to NSW. The offence will be put on the driver’s
licence record in NSW and demerit points will be added.
DRIVERS FROM INTERSTATE
If a driver holds a licence from another State or Territory, they can incur points
on their licence from offences they commit in NSW. These may be added to points
they already have on their licence in their home State. If the driver gets 12 or
more points in this State in three years, the RTA may withdraw their right to drive
in NSW as a visitor.

It has been that way for quite some time

I can vouch for this first hand unfortunately. Lost my licence due to an accumulation of points with the final offence been recorded in NSW on my QLD licence. Thankfully I seemed to have learnt my lesson and have not had any problems in the past 5 years. Touch wood

In Vic we can't cancel/disqualify/suspend an interstate licence, only disqualify you from driving in Victoria. BUT that record gets sent interstate and most (if not all) states will impose the same penalty. Points have gone between states for years.

Yep it is all connected now
This is also the reason why it is now much more easier to move car registrations between states
Please note i said CAR
