It will be a pity to see the season finale of Bogan Hunters next week...
I like being able to see the recipients of my tax dollars! Watching them on TV through Bogan Hunters is a safe and easy way of checking up on these lovely hard done by people, whilst they are between jobs  I mean, it would be a waste to use this money on Health, Education or infrastructure wouldn't it?
On the other hand, it has got me thinking a little bit, that maybe, just maybe, our welfare system needs some reform... Hang on, hang on, steady up.... What! I want to reform the system and reduce their dependence on welfare and encourage them to get a job? That's mad! Or is it?
-
You watch it? I tried but only lasted about ten minutes. ???
-
The show that will replace it should be a cracker. Its called Kinne. His a comedian, Troy Kinne, I've been following on Youtube/Facey for a while
-
Surprised they even got a season out if it. The ads were enough for me to not bother watching

Next season will be the same from what I hear, even with their new main star, Todd Carney

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm? :)
Personally, I don't see the harm in requiring drug and alcohol testing to be able to collect welfare. That's what I don't like about the system, tax payer funded drugs alcohol and cigarettes. I would like to see some sort of system that limited purchases when you are on welfare.
Just my 2c anyway

Food vouchers instead on payments.
-
The current government is trying somewhat to fix the system, and look what has happend to them in the polls! That's why major changes will never happen.
We will just continue to be taxed more to pay for it!
-
Food vouchers instead on payments.
I'm sure they make a card, like a debit card, that will work in the EFTPOS machines but not at an ATM and will reject purchases of some items. It will let you buy food and not cigarettes and alcohol. Surely that is an easy fix? Can be used to pay bills etc but can't get cash out to pay your dealer.
I suppose if that happened everyone would carry on about the "free country" we live in. Perhaps they need to be sat down and explain the its free as in no slavery, not free as in get everything for free....

food vouchers don't always work, I used to work in a Supermarket (15 yrs ago) in a regional town, and the locals used to come in with their food vouchers buy groceries, come back a couple of hours later and return all the goods for a cash refund, then by ciggies or pop across the road to the bottle shop..
We ended up having to stamp their receipts with a "Voucher" stamp to try and stop them..What they would do next is pick up any receipts lying on the ground in the car park or bin, come back into the store and steal goods that were on the receipt and then bring them back in for a cash refund. If only they put this type of effort into getting a job!!!

I watched an episode of the Bogan Hunters, they were smoking bongs with kids running around the house and proudly stating they were on the dole while drinking cans.
I feel sorry for the kids, its not their fault :(
-
It is satire, but perhaps too close to home for some.
I loved the bogan wagon.

I loved the bogan wagon.
I know the owner of that wagon and he is not a bogan (I know you were not inferring that), he is a business owner. I think the car was lent/hired for the show.

Good effort. I lasted about half of that
Sent from the machine that goes..... Bing!

A mate of mine who is both a historian and an economist (has a doctorate in the pograms of the baltic states of all things) tried to explain to me once that if you can get your head around the lack of justice that many bums like these will probably never work while we do it is actually good for the economy.
Paraphrasing here but it was something like the majority pay taxes and some of that fund these bums. Bums that you don't want in the workplace as they are disruptive and a danger to themselves and others.
You are also paying them just enough to keep them going and every single dollar you invest in them comes back to the local and larger communities in the way of VN Commodores, petrol, cigs, take aways etc. You can be pretty well assured that they are not investing our $$ for the future.
Because of their poor diets they die far earlier and are off the books at a youngish age.
This investment in tax dollars stops them going right off their nuts and revolting against the masses as they did in the French Revolution. The worst thing the govt can do is make it that hard that they turn on us (more) by stealing our gear (more often). A community will always have flotsam.
So its a win - win. :D

Bloody hilarious, in my job I have dealt with many bogans over the years, all you can do is look at them and laugh inside whilst still being professional dealing with their problems...

Yeah its amazing, you have to have a licence to drive, 1 to keep reptiles. council only allow 1 dog per 600m2 (here on GC anyway)
Yet any DEADBEAT can punch out as many kids as they want.
Maybe they could have a new series of bogan hunters, only this time you could get all the bogans and through them in a 1,000,000 acre pattock, and we could hunt them like we do roo's and pigs.

.
Maybe part of receiving their welfare payments could be a cash bonus if they get "the chop" , so they can't breed... >:D....oops, did I say that out loud

I watched about 10 minutes of last nights show, while I was having a bout of reflux.
I know its a "send up" and all that crap and they're playing up to the cameras etc, but I think in a lot of places, they've nailed it 10 outta 10.
Its the first time ever, and I mean ever, that I was ashamed to be an Australian.
-
I actually taught two of Nanna Shaz's kids from the program...unfortunately the shows not that far from the truth.

Sadly this is pretty true. Kids grow up knowing nothing different. At the school I was at, with Nanna Shazza, some kids would turn up,just to have some normality.
Problem is families from generational poverty have average 5/6 offspring (noted in the program) while middle income (probably most here) have 2/3 avg. It's a battle that unless something can be done fast, is quickly being lost.
-
DAMN !
First thought was - Great - another call for volunteers (to hunt bogans) - I certainly have the skills for this one. Second thought was - I'd pay to do that ;D
Opened this thread to find out how to get started............................................then :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Imagine my disappointment to find out you were just discussing a tv show (that I know nothing about)
-
I just want to add that I have been known to wear a flanny and I'm even happy to so I was/am a bit of a bogan in many peoples eyes but not like they are portraying on the show. Lol I have most of my teeth and I work........
-
You're safe Danny! Wearing a flannel is not the only criteria for being a bogan.
There is a little bit of bogan in all of us. According to A Current Affair Tonight surfers paradise is the bogan capital of Australia, not tassie!
I enjoy the show and take it for what it is, a pi55 take on others. Perhaps people should also watch Upper Middle Bogan to give a better perspective.
I have a few teeth missing too!

Maybe before receiving their payment they can get the chop period.
Opps I replied out loud >:D
-
It's not the clothes they wear that make them a bogan, well maybe a little bit but it's just there attitude. I agree with jeepers, just seeing the ads makes me cringe.
-
im very surprised they didnt recruit this bloke, thought he would have been a shoe in 8)
-
Hahahahahahaha hahahahaha. Oh man. Need to pick myself of the floor now..
Season 2 from what I heard
-
Its the first time ever, and I mean ever, that I was ashamed to be an Australian.
I haven't watched this Bogan show, but did feel like this when watching the 'What Really Happens in Bali' show.
-

- Leather Assented Seats (I don't care what anyone says, these are damn comfy, and don't stick or get hot. I wear footy shorts all summer and have no dramas with the seats)
These just may be the words of a bogan.
-
Definitely a middle class Bogan..
-
If you've watched any of Pauly Fenech's other shows then you'll realise that he dosent do "normal" ;D.
-
Swift & Shift is however a work of art
Dazzler your mate is totally on the money with his theory, cracked me up big time
